Opposition fans' comments: Sheff Utd v Forest

His Dad used to post on this forum, and others too, about Anel's lack of progress towards the first team.

Later, when he went back to Malmo, iirc, he was doing there too and was angry about something to do with the a national call up. Anel had to publicly go on record to say his Dad wasnt helping matters and should pipe down.

His Dad took a lot of stick on this forum for it. But one thing you can say about him was he never lacked belief in his son's ability.
You missed the bit about his dad (we were never sure who it was till Anal went public) saying he was going AC Milan and basically insinuated we were his stepping stone to greater things....

I've never rated Worrall and have never hid from that but Anals dad took delight in his and Forests f*** ups...which at that time were numerous.

I've generally never wanted a player to suffer a career threatening injury, but Anals dad did make me think about it. He gave the impression that he wouldn't give you the shit off his shoe once you'd been used for a purpose.

Think even the well respected academy advocates like Bryan Roy, Lard and the not so well respected Wes Organ had had enough of his dad/uncles/boyfriends bullshit in the end which says a lot.

Think he even came back on bragging that his lad was playing in the Europa league for malmo, then he subsequently scored an own goal gave away a pen or got sent off for doing something he'd have mocked Joe for previously so that back fired on the prick.

No way will championship football be good enough for his boy, I expect a move to the continent.

The player might be a nice guy, but his support network are killing it for him... I'm sure @Notcher will confirm he won't be the first and he won't be the last to have a support network like that at that stage of a players development, most are a bit more sly about it, his dad was blatant.

Yeah would agree with that Bazza. His dad was a prize idiot, calling out all and sundry whilst proclaiming Ahmedhodzic as the next Franco Baresi.

There is nothing wrong with boosting your kids of course, but he took it way too far.

Maybe it was a timing thing but I lived in Sheffield, great city by the way, in the late 90's and early noughties and the blunts were sound but I found the piggies to be arrogant cock wombles whenever any conversation turned to football.

Went to a few games back then too with a blunts colleague. They had that boxer in midfield for a bit, and Jagielka coming through. Decentish team under Colin, if a little agricultural.

I lived round the corner from Bramall Lane in the late nineties and found the same thing.

United fans were ‘proper’ fans whilst the Wendies were always miserable boggers

Nope nothing wrong with supporting your kids, but his dad almost made you hate the player before you'd seen him play.

Now I have seen him play, on the same pitch as Murrilo as well I know whose parents should be bragging about their lads talent.

Ah. Another "dad knows best" or thinks he does. Cheers for the reply.

I've played under Wilder at non-league so it doesn't surprise me in the slightest and tbh they all do it mate. It absolutely pisses me off no end too. I completed mine in 2002/03 it was obvious immediately that there were so many of the lads who had zero capacity to complete the theory and written aspects of the work. Plagerisium, paying folk off, paying other people to do it etc and I know for a fact that it still goes on to this day.
I suspect this applies to referees too.

I was always wondering how a certain guy from a similar part of the world ended up with a management career and a Pro licence when his actual management achievements didn't show that at all...

Think it says on wikipedia that Murillo's dad died when he was 10, quite sad for the lad really.

I wasn't a million miles away from you then, for a while anyway. I lived just off London Road in Netheredge. It was Vincent Road I think. It ran down to Abbeydale Road.
