Roonaldo
Geoff Thomas
Dear Mr Rooney,
Thank you for your email, the club do appreciate your comments and take what you say into consideration.
In response to the issues you have raised, the decision not have an open day this year was not down to the fact that Mr Davis wanted to concentrate on training or down to the pre season fixture against Birmingham the day before. Throughout the summer the club have been having refurbishment work done in and around the stadium, in sight of this work restricted areas of the ground which would normally be open to the public during the open day would be closed. It would simply not be practical for the club to put on this event.
In relation to your comments that 'the club appears ignorant to just how big a deal this is to young families', may I just point out that the club regularly put on events for our young supporters. We run a Sevens project in which each child receives a free Nottingham Forest home shirt and tickets to a game and the chance to meet the players. Our Junior reds members also get the chance to meet the players and are given a ground tour, this is done at different stages throughout the season.
I can understand your disappointment and hope this explanation can help you understand the clubs reasons not to have an open day this year.
If you wish to discuss any of these issues with me then please contact me on 0115 982 4365.
Kind regards
