You are joking, right?

I stand 166cm in my socks, and weigh in at about 80Kg - useful in my former career, as I was a small, pretty much invisible person who could sneak in to and out of all sorts of interesting places and then pop people in the head.

Which was fun, I have to say.
That's a full backs physique if ever I heard one.

Now take the wage we’d pay him and buy as much striker as you can for the same amount. I don’t care if that’s some kid or a promising third tier player or whatever.

At this stage so long as they aren’t demonstrably not PL standard we’re better off signing a shit load of cheap lads and chucking one on after another until one doesn’t fail. Thinking about it only worked with Wood, the rest of the time whatever we were thinking was wrong, so let’s stop.

There is doubt though isn't there?

I'm not on board the "every shit signing is Edu's fault" train personally

We simply don't know
Sure-but there no doubt that Edu and Zinchenko are ex-Arsenal so it’s probably sheer coincidence.

If Edu isn’t responsible (or partly responsible) for our transfer failings who the hell is?

This is the problem though fellas, we're digging out someone based on hearsay, rumours and zero evidence

We simply don't know what goes on

We don't know everything, of course. But we do know what the reports from the Spanish side were:

Thing is, even without speculating further on precisely why the deal for Javi Galán fell through (assuming you accept that it did) - ultimately it still comes down to Edu as the man responsible. Yes, it's speculation as to whether we pulled the plug because Zinchenko was available, or whether something else caused us to rethink and then we went to Zinchenko as a last minute eighth choice. Or there could have been another reason entirely that nobody has figured out. But the underlying fact still remains that everyone and their dog had known we desperately needed left back cover since the end of last season, and we ultimately left it too late and got it wrong. That alone deserves criticism, regardless of the specifics.

Now that you're getting rid of him, let me point out once again that I find the notion of a Ukrainian supporting Israel utterly bizarre.

We dont know for sure who is signing who but with Zinchenko being signed from Arsenal you'd have thought Edu would've had plenty of involvement.

Whoever is identifying these players we're signing needs to book an appointment at Vision Express anyway.

Galan has only made 7 appearances this season so probably wouldn’t have made much impact for us. Probably more than Zinc but was Galan a purchase or loan? The bigger problem has been Aina missing half the season.

We'll obviously never know whether Galan would have been the right answer or not. But that's beside the point anyway - we were scrambling around on deadline day trying to fill a spot that we knew all along was a priority and so should have been sorted 2 months prior.
