Now you've gone and mentioned the "Anderlecht" word there, haven't you..!!!

ManU-Forest FA cup 1989 - I was there, jammed up in the top corner, getting a better view of some things on the TV sets in the Boxes behind us..

Abiding memories of the day were that it rained.
A steady, heavy, incessant downpour, before, during and especially after.
If I recall correctly, we were under the cosh for most of the game, and a typical away smash-and-grab saw Garrry Parker scramble the only goal of the game right below us.

In the rain.

Cue the typical ManuMeatHeads after the game behaving as per type. In the rain.
Really got to appreciate how bloody scary a police horse charging at you could be...one such went straight past me, scared the shit out of me, and caused the ManU'tards to scatter.

And it rained.

A lot!

Great set of tickets there - a number of games I wish I'd been to...

Cheers!

It was pretty good - passionate and plenty of "banter" (read hate & pies) , though the semi-final at Villa Park '91 that ran out 4-0 beats it for atmosphere combined with joy!

oooh very nice! Wish I had one of those. :( Bit too young I'm afraid...

I had to get permission to stay up late and watch that game on telly. Bloody brilliant!! Crackly commentary, like it was coming down a phone line (cos it was) ... and the rest is history. :) Happy days!

For the younger viewers, that price (6/6) six shillings and sixpence translates to 27-and-a-half pence in today's money...

...so the cost of football has gone up 10000% in 40 years. Anyone know what the comparative rise in average wages has been in the same period, please?

Sorry to be pedantic but it is actually 32 and a half pence (5 new pence to the shilling)

Interesting though - I wonder how many of the forum users can remember Bramhall Lane as a three sided ground for playing football and cricket. I was there at that game as well!
