Oh Mist rolling in from......

While out with my friends last night, we were discussing how good it sounds when the ground belts this out, but then moved on to the fact that it would be far better if the track played to get it going was the actual words we sing, rather than the original Mcartney version.

Can we get a campaign going to get someone to record it, and put the right words in, so that it can be played and lift the volume a little bit more?

Given Forest fan's inability to adjust the chant to be the speed of the song, recording it at the 'corrected' tempo might be a good plan, too.

Just don't get the last LTLF Soccer AM contingent to provide the words for the verse part

I think it was Rich, but I could be wrong.

As far as I'm concerned, that's where the error came from and it messed everyone else up!

VC corner are the ones who find if impossible to slow the chant down, I sit there and just end up giving up half way through as half of them have already finished.

We have to play the words due to copyright I think. There was a thread on it a few months back.

There is in existence a recording of the old (grestest and much missed)Trent singing this with the correct words. Part of it was used in the intro to "he's got the whole world etc."
So get the club to dig it out and clean it up and blast it out!

The fact that it is previuosly published should get round any legal issues.

Charlton seemed to manage it OK:

If they could get around any copyright issues then I'm sure we could. After all, they did steal the idea to use Mull of Kintyre from us!

...in fairness, I was struggling to slow myself down to the right speed when it was sung before the posh game...the original is too slow!

if everyone just sung it at the same speed as the mull of kintyre there would be no problem. I always ing it at this speed and it has never caused me any problems. I dont see why some people have to sing it at 100 miles an hour. Its a song best savoured

Earlier in the season I was working on a punk version of it with the intention of getting a load of fans somewhere to record the vocals. I've got the backing track and even written an extra verse! Who wants to be a rock star for the day?

Even one of the 'karaoke' versions with no words would be better. It makes me cringe to hear the words 'Mull of Kintyre' - it's bloody amateurish.

Everybody seems to speed up during the 2nd bit, why don't they just turn off the music and let the crowd sing it on their own !

How long have Forest been singing this song? I remember us singing it when i started going in early to mid 90's. I know it has taken Forest ages to actually pay the music prior to kick off. When did we start to actually play the music prior to KO? Couldnt be that log ago.

Been singing it as long as I can remember (late 80s early 90s).

From memory I think it as played after the Yeovil game when we were promoted, the fans joined in and Calderwood I think spoke of it being special and arranged for it to be played before the games, so that'd be the start of last season...

I thought it was around that time. To think it has taken us that long to get an 'anthem' played, it doest look good for the club to speed it up or change the words. Heres hoping though.

Good old Colin Calderwood!

Are you sure about this? The wings version of MoK was only released in Nov 1977. The Paper Lace version of 'World in Our Hands' was released in in Feb 1978. This seems like too short a time for fans to have converted one song into a chant and for PL to have recorded it and it used in another.

The fan recording at the start of WGTWWIOH is 'We all agree, Nottingham Forest are Magic... We all agree, Nottingham Forest are magic.. are magic... are magic...' etc...

I'm unclear given my age as to whether the chant actually had the 'echo' in it, or whether that's a modern affectation having heard the song which did it by audio mixing lol

No, its the repeats are audio effect because its used to cross-over from the chant into the beginning on the song. Later the fans added the repeats.

I am be wrong about the 'World in his hands thing' but I am sure there is a fan recording somewhere.

I also feel pretty sure we sang this if not in the late seventies then in the early eighties. I will call a few of the old Trent Enders over the next few days and take a straw poll.

Back in the day very heavy mists did used roll in over thr CG and did cause games to be obandoned. Anybody recall WBA in 1973?

But that was when Winnits was only a twinkle in his Dad's eye!
