...and Delap knocked for pillar to post but the tiniest clip by Jesus took too long for the Var and ref to cheat us AGAIN
It seemed harsh at the ground, but the reality was that the foul caused the defender to lose balance, be unable to make the clearance, and a goal reslted.
If it was Coventry scoring against us in those circumstances we would be howling for the goal to be disallowed.

So, according to the experts on here Glasner has lost the players already. And the players weren't trying yesterday.

If they're right we are seriously in the shit and relegation beckons.

However, it's more likely that his methods are taking their time to sink in. We need to be patient.

I don't like the complete change in approach and that all sits at EM's door, no one else. I like his ambition but I'm not sure he's smart enough to take us there, a proper plan and adherence to it is the only way you get there consistently.

I do not want the manager gone and people saying that are crazy. Though I haven’t seen many myself.

It is going to take time Glasners records at all his clubs shows this with slow starts and I am confident that it will come good it will just take time, but doesn’t stop me being annoyed at what I saw yesterday.

I'm sure our players were trying yesterday, sadly most of them were just shit.
Our players are not just shit".
From what I saw "our players" are confused and confounded by the managerial decisions.
Aina - star man against Villa, dropped.
NDoye - ineffective, started yet again.
Jesus - lively goal scorer, and a good foil for Delap sat on the bench for >60 minutes.
Hudson-Odoi - out in the cold of the bomb squad.
Sangare - seems to be the same as CHO.
As for trying: did Glasner order the players not to press Coventry into making errors?
Did Glasner tell the players to play slow, crab like side to side football?
To me, the players as a result of the confusion exercised "passive resistance where they appeared to run around, putting in lots of effort were actually playing at 60% of their capacity.
"Just shit" they are not!

I don’t see it that way. We had 12 shots in the 1st half and anyone of those that went in we would be saying how well they played. Yes I agree Orla should have played and supported Munoz on the right.

For all the 12 shots in the first half, the Coventry keeper had no saves to make, bar collecting Williams' blast that was straight at him.
This is what I was saying we get in the horseshoe of death where we just pass it around the box for a few mins before someone just shoots from 25 yards and it’s blocked/wide/straight at the keeper.

At no point did we try and get in-behind or press them play high tempo football. We hadn’t played for 7 days either and Cov had played midweek and were missing I think 6 players?

The fact Jesus was sat on the bench for 60 mins and he stuck with Ndoye baffles me. When Igor came on he had one cleared off the line and scored a goal that again VAR decided to rule out for us.

Ndoye in 60 mins did nothing.

Ndoye was crap but if we continue playing wiliams at lwb we’ll still look toothless. We need more variety in attack. Also Glasner needs a plan B. I would have liked to see Murillo step into defensive mid yesterday and us try and press them more. All very crab like yesterday with a lwb who only ever crosses from deep like classic Dyche cause he has to cut back in and can’t shoot. All you have to do is match our formation and you can beat us

So far we've been exactly what I thought we would be. A completely average at best Premier League side. A side that will lose as many as it wins and could feasibly beat anyone and also lose to anyone on any given day. A side that lives rent-free in that lower-midtable section of the league.

Hopefully it's enough to not worry too much about going down, I'm sure it will be but it's not going to be sparkling to watch most of the time.

It's a shame as we have some brilliant players in some positions but are sadly lacking in some other important ones.

Let’s be honest, we played against a team which play in a way that is notoriously difficult for new teams to play against. Coventry didn’t really have any intention of scoring the whole game, and lets be honest, they got lucky, long ball, hopeful punt, Munoz should clear easily, doesn’t, goal.
They will lose most games as the season goes on, once teams get more settled, we played them at the wrong time for us, its annoying but just one of those things that happens to unsettled teams who are trying to change their style quickly.

3 weeks now to stew on this it’s gonna be a long 3 weeks!
No kidding :(
Aina and Jesus should have started.
100%
And also why at 1-0 down did we just go full Dyche and put Wood on and just check balls into the box? Why not put CHO on and have MGW, McAtee and CHO in behind Delap and offer something different? Seems to be the plan was “juts chuck it in the box and hope” which I thought we’d gotten past?
Absolutely Glasner should have brought on some creativity at the expense of a centre back - although serious questions need to be asked why "Mr. System" thought it was a winning plan to start with 3 centre backs against the bottom side who haven't scored a PL goal in decades and lost their first four games prior to meeting Forest. But, given that he did decide to go with two big number 9s, what I found astonishing was the lack of urgency by the players at 0-1 down, and a bewildering aversion to actually taking advantage of having both those number 9s on the field. We didn't pump the ball into the box, there were barely any crosses at all in the final 15 minutes, no onslaught. Just more of that same recycling of the ball into midfield, passing backwards to begin the slow and methodical process of searching for angles, only to be pushed back by Cov's press repeatedly. So, instead of adding a creative player Glasner chose to go for a late bombardment in the box. Apparently he neglected to inform the rest of the players of the revised plan, because that bombardment never came.

Yeah that one goal incident was reffed to a different standard to the other 90 mins + injury time of the game. I'm sure that we all wanted VAR to rule out glaring errors and not find ways to rule out goals.
Exactly. The ref let loads go all game. It was physical and there was loads he could have called but didn't. That's why it grates that the slightest of touches on the VAR review resulted in no goal.

Its a difficult one, because without the trip we don’t score.
The ref did let a lot go, but the fact that it directly influenced the goal will be the only thing VAR looked at.
The decision was correct based on the state of modern football

yup, I had no issue with the Ref letting things go and he did for the most part Delap was kicked and pushed around all game and he let it go, Fine. But then in that one instance he decided that a tiny little tread on the toe WAS a foul this time.

Again we can’t be blaming VAR though for creating basically nothing all game.

I always feel we struggle in games when the onus is on us to take the game to the opposition, which isn't much of a surprise as that's how we've been set up for the majority of the last 5 seasons & it was no different yesterday.

For a lot of the game I felt our biggest problem was the lack of options ahead of the ball, so often we had possession in midfield and essentially had to delay the pass as we waited for the wing backs to get up the pitch at which point Coventry had numbers behind the ball. There was a couple of occasions where McAtee actually ran the ball square across the pitch looking for a pass.

It doesn't help either that we're essentially playing a man down when Ndoye plays like that. Delap did pretty well with balls played into him & carried the ball well under pressure but if the opposition can get men around MGW and deny him options, then we're pretty toothless.

Munoz had a great game v Villa but didn't do enough going forward yesterday & got caught out badly with the goal. Williams saw a lot of the ball which is not always a good thing. I thought Murillo did pretty well bar the odd sloppy moment but Cunha looked a bit all over the place & I was surprised he started over Aina.

These "comparisons" don't really add up though. As you say, VP won that Burnley game. Dyche and Ange enough said really, but Coops was still negotiating the extraordinarily difficult task of keeping a hastily thrown together squad in the PL. The way VP had us playing second half of last season we'd have very likely beaten Coventry today.

I don't think it's fair to blame the fans for the dross served up at the CG. They're not the ones in the boardroom appointing managers who make no strategic sense, and they're not the multi-millionaire professional athletes on the field who are only occasionally capable of executing rudimentary passes to teammates or once in a while managing to lift corners and dead balls past the first defender. There's a symbiosis in supporting, just as there is in attending a concert. To be effective in either requires a parallel contribution from both performer and audience. Unfortunately for the audience at the CG, the performers have developed a penchant for lackluster and uninspiring displays that have become so frequent they are now expected by the audience. There's only one party that can actually change that, and it isn't the supporters.
Tourist, if you get some time, go back and watch the Burnley game highlights. Against teams that let us have the ball, we have no idea that to do with it and we also struggle when the weight of expectation is on us.

I know it's uncomfortable to admit any fault but you can feel the tension at the City Ground in the stands, that absolutely translates to the pitch. I don't know if it is why we lost but I know it didn't help us trying to win.

Proper top tree aren't you! Was the fans fault? What a f***ing joke!

Coventry bullied us off the pitch aswell? Big tough guy aren't you, spokesman of the fans. Absolutely ridiculous shite.
Are you alright, lmao?

I don't know if you're trying to take the piss but if you think a stadium full of people moaning and groaning, rather than trying to support the team is helping the team win football matches, you might want to take up watching another sport.

Irrespective of the team picked, it is almost as if the Forest players have 'The Yips' when playing at home. The psychological mental block (performance anxiety) that affects darts, snooker, baseball, tennis and golf professionals. Rather than affecting one player, Forest seem to have a squad wide condition.

Cloughie would have sorted this problem by taking the team out on a giant pre-match piss up to help calm their nerves and ease pressure.
