Excuses. Why is it people are so quick to excuse one of the worst Premier League managers of the last 3 years? He took Spurs to 17th and he was taking us down.

Using your logic given every game Dyche managed we massively overachieved because we picked up points despite them all being above us in the table apart from West Ham and Wolves where we got 4 points from 6.
Not really, what I'm saying is he had 3 of his 5 games against teams currently in the last 16 of the Champions League. Two of them were away and the first was 2 days after taking over.

Under most circumstances we'd have struggled in those games (we lost the exact same 3 games last season).

Interesting point made by Pereira post match, MGW was indeed excellent. How many minutes did he play on Thursday? Thats a stark reminder of what Thursday nights are doing to our team (lets not forget Spurs and United last year too). Of course we'll be the twats that actually go down because of it.
So sack it off right now!

Seriously, can no-one at the club see what is blindingly obvious, that being in the Europa League this season has massively impacted our position in the Premier League

If it were possible and I were in charge of Forest I would literally call up UEFA this very moment and give Midtjylland a bye into the next round

Well bugger me, we did pick up 3 points today.

Under Ange we conceded 18 goals in 8 games including 3 at Swansea when we were 2-0 up thanks to his half-time changes. We were awful at Arsenal and at home to Chelsea losing both 3-0.

Our shape and style of play under Ange was shocking - too high a line making us defensively exposed. I’ve not spoken to a single Forest supporter who did not want him gone as it started bad and got worse.

How anyone can defend Ange is beyond me.

At least Dyche delivered points which give us a chance to avoid relegation.

Hopefully Pereira can do likewise and finish the job.

Terrible performance and a shit day out.

Sels should’ve saved the first goal and his kicking was w**k.

Neco was uncharacteristicly bad, Murillo dreadful and did practically nothing to stop Welbeck for the second.

Sangare looked like Sangare from his first season. Clumsy, lethargic and off the pace. He got the runaround from a 40 yo Milner. I could maybe give him a pass as he has probably been fasting, but if he is going to be so off it during ramadan, then Yates or Dominguez need to start ahead of him.

Hutchinson continues to flit in and out of games and is only starting because the alternatives are so bad.

Jesus is a good player but looks like he will never score in the PL again.

The less said about Bakwa and NDoye the better. They made an impact alright, just not the one we wanted.

The only positives were MGW was excellent, Netz looked ok and we looked better in a 3421.

Stadium is a f***ing nightmare to get away from.

When I woke up at 6am this morning, I genuinely, wholeheartedly believed 3 points were on the cards. Inspired by our courageous performance against Liverpool, I anticipated to see another solid effort from the first string team and naively believed that Thursday was a mere blip by the second string team, who frankly are not up to snuff.

I continued to believe this all the way down the M1, around the M25 and all the way down to what is by far the worst stadium to get to in the entire Premier League.

Imagine my shock when that hope was snuffed out 6 minutes in, only to be somewhat rekindled 8 minutes later, and finally put to bed again 1 minute later.

It's days like today that make me wonder what the f*** I'm doing following this team around. Half of them look like they've got their eye on whichever club wants them. The other half look like they'll relegate us from the Championship, nevermind the Premiership.

Usually I consider myself the eternal optomist, yet the cynic in me says these players have made a pact to relegate the club so they can swan off to their next destination at a fraction of the price. In my heart of hearts I know it isn't true, and this is a byproduct of going through 4 managers in a single season, and being completely and utterly devoid of confidence.

Regardless of the outcome, I cannot bloody wait for this season to be over and not have to think about Forest for a bit.

Ange gets criticised for making half time changes to rest players. Igor Jesus mainly. No one criticised him for Jair Cunha for Morato surely? And CHO for Bakwa?

Just LOL. Beat him for the rest but not that one, he saw what was coming, for once.

Might try for some down time.

Let's not be slandering Matz Sels

Yes he was poor today but he's clearly still carrying an injury

On his day he's a fantastic keeper. You don't win the joint Premier League golden glove and get nominated for the Yashin Trophy if you aren't a top, top goalkeeper
Sels shouldn't have even played today, he looked like he was on tranquilisers and didn't get to anything routine. He clearly wasn't fit.

Angus Gunn must be really bad for a 20% fit Sels to be playing ahead of him.

I agree and dont think anyone is slandering him but it is a fact even with John we were better at retaining possession with him in goal he pretty much found jesus with every ball unfortunately he was w**k at goalkeeping ortega on the other hand isnt so shit and offers the same with distribution and i think its been important recently certainly not saying drop sels though

Thought about it and this is the setup I've locked in.

Williams needs a rest and we need an alternative to get down the left and deliver service.

Ando needs a rest as a minimum and is proving ineffective for some inexplicable reason.

Wingers are providing the square root of f*ck all so me we need to provide an alternative configuration.

Zero happening from our current lone forward/striker in or around the box so again needs a reboot.

This is the side and system I'd play against City

Agree with other comments regarding Ortega, his kicking was really good and against Liverpool was mixing it up well and they had clearly worked on movement and routines regarding this. There was such a big drop off today and it often went aimlessly long or short to CB and we struggled then to get passed Brightons press. Appreciate Sels may have not been 100% but think his kicking is an area that could be developed.

Yates for Sangare and Gunn instead of Sels based on today, otherwise this is pretty much how I'd like VP to go in the next few games

Maybe go for the Cooper special and have Gibbs-White behind Awoniyi with a packed midfield.

Sels
Aina Cunha Milenkovic Murillo Williams
Dominguez Sangare Anderson
MGW
Awoniyi

Yes it was a masterstroke to make changes that led to the concession of three goals in forty five minutes to lose the game against Swansea when we needed a moral boosting victory. His second game four days after the three goal loss at Arsenal. It set the tone for his short Forest career.
After Nuno’s antics the last thing we needed was a manager like Ange. We have been on catch up ever since.

Ange, himself, has admitted that he should never have taken the Forest job - it was far too soon after his sacking from Spurs.

Not sure if the ‘might try some down time’ is aimed at me but, if so, I’ll decide for myself thank you.

I've been thinking about this as well happened a few times yesterday where Jesus pulled deep and wide (it's where our goal came from) but then there was nobody to pass to up top. I'd like to see us try this it may surprise a few sides who will expect us to set up 4-2-3-1 and hopefully allow us to pick up the 2 or 3 results we need!

After we get slapped by City on Wednesday we then have over a week until our next game which hopefully allows VP to work with the lads and allow them to get a bit of a rest as well.

Tough we have said this may times this season and I think nearly every time we have then go on to lose the next fixture!

The lack of goals is a real issue though if you take out the 3 games where we scored 3 we have managed 17 goals in 25 games.

Agree: he looked in pain a few times and when he had to sit down, twice, I thought he was going to come off.

Clearly in plain and unfit.

Thank God it wasn’t 16 in 25.
