O City Ground

The "DJ's" timing when he played mull of kintyre was spot on on Saturday. Just kicked off as the second Chorus kicked in and and it rang around the City Ground better than any I have heard it before.

Spine tingling!

It sounded absolutely awesome when I watched the highlights on the FLS although at the time I thought it was a little late and a bit unexpected. Still brings a lump to my throat.

Problem is it then goes silent.

Strange atmosphere on Saturday...at times it was deafening but a lot of the time it was pretty quiet

I've just watched The Football League Show again on BBC iPlayer and I must admit, it sounds deafening! You don't hear that noise at Anfield

Credit Colin Calderwood for bringing it back.

Really enjoyed it on Saturday, thought the atmosphere was excellent.

I was watching West Ham v Chelsea yesterday and they play Bubbles just before kick off but they stop the music after the first verse (thats the way we should do it).

That's what happened on Saturday due to the game kicking off..worked a treat!

The timing was more luck than judgement I think!

think that was due to late kick off, extra drinking and people sobering up during the game (or might have just been myself)

Not as loud as Derby and sounded like every stand was singing it at completely different times. Sounded ok from my seat in le trent end though

I normally sit in the lower trent, but took some kids and the mrs to the match saturday so had to move to the upper bridgford. And I have to say theres a world of difference. Constant singing up there, and noise- it was brilliant, a fantastic atmosphere. The lower trents not particuarly bad- but i didnt realise quite how quiet it was in comparrison. Maybe its just this one game though.

Gotta give props to the lads behind us who kept singing "snow is falling, around me, forest playing- having fun. Tis the season, that forest get promotion....merry christmas....Nottingham".
Made me chuckle.

The only ever time ive sat in the bridgford stand in my life- robert prosineski scored a free kick in the last 85th minute to win the game for portsmouth

Amazing atmosphere on saturday...and i hope it wasnt just because it was christmas!

The mull of kintyre was a great moment too, even got the kids singing it ;D

When I watched it back theres still one stand who seem to think they have to sing it faster than everybody else. Cant blame the music, becuase it had gone off by then.

Sounded excellent on the TV to me.

It did sound impressively loud on The Football League Show but after the music was turned off some sections of the crowd starting rushing it, meaning it ended up sounding a bit of a mess.

Also, are we ever going to get the 'Far have I travelled...' verse or are the majority of people content to sing the chorus repeatedly? To me it just doesn't sound complete without any verses.

It murders it :nowink:
Same with LTLF when sung at three times the normal speed.

Yea the whole double-speed singing of it properly ruins the it, makes us sound like a right bunch of rednecks

When the fans get going we can make one hell of a noise, it's great when the atmosphere is like that at the CG.

From the Trent Upper the Mull Of Kintyre song sounded louder than it ever has before when the music went off and we were left singing it by ourselves. It was awesome,, if only there was a good recording of it.

Hate to say it but from my seat it sounds like A-block that's going too fast. Wouldn't swear to it, but that's how it sounds. :(

The trouble when the tannoy stops and the fans take the chant is if one set 'follows' another it will always be out of time.

I'm fairly sure I can keep musical time. Still sounds like A-block... :D

Just wondering, would it be possible for the club to do a full "Forest" version of the song, abit like "We've got the whole world in our hands" based on the entire lyrics.

City Ground,
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent,
My desire is always to be here,
Oh City Ground;
For I have travelled,
And much have I seen,
Goodison, Anfield, The places I've been,
Maine Road, Old Trafford,
Still echo to the sounds,
Of the boys in the red shirts,
At the City Ground;
City Ground, Oh mist rolling in from the Trent,
My desire is always to be here,
Oh City Ground.

Or a revamped version?

Far we had fallen
The barrel we'd scraped,
Yeovil and Carlisle
Are places we've traipsed,
Bournemouth and Brentford
still echo to the sound,
Of the boys in the red shirts
from the City Ground,

City Ground
Oh mist rolling in from the Trent
My desire, is always to be here
Oh City Ground,

United by Billy
Our rise is underway,
Joint-second place by Christmas
And still unbeaten away,
A squad full of heroes
Our jaded faith all anew
Whilst we grow we can
Laugh down the A52...

City Ground
Oh mis...

Hmm. Second verse is a bit w**k, but you get the point lol
