Nuno Espírito Santo

He was never all that good IMO. He got lucky with us .

He joined a side that was basically built for him and his ways, which is more of a positive of our then recruitment and top brass setup than it is Nuno.

He was a great fit for that time. Pretty much everything went for him in his favor, but West Ham and Spurs shows how poor he can be when it doesn't.

we signed Sells, Elliot Anderson & Niko, and Chris Wood got fit and firing. Credit to Nuno for adding that bit of extra Portuguese panache to those type of players and making them feel at home, but he's no Billy Davis.

They were 1 point off the drop when he arrived with 3 points in 5 games.

Them winning 2 of his first 16 games is what sent them down.
Yeah that run was bad but overall his win rate was around 31 per cent. Went from utter crap to a lot better once he got his players in.

He had wolves in europe aswell before he left. Yes the end turned sour with us but calling him lucky for one of the best season we have had in the last 30 years is a bit over the top?

Yeah, Nuno pushing for Traore gave them a real fighting chance in particular.
If you thought it would be your last chance to play against Chelsea, you'd take the opportunity to start some aggro with their players.

To be fair the bits of the game I saw yesterday they were very lucky to be two up. Burnley hit the post when they should have scored at 0-1 and missed a bunch of decent chances.

To be fair he got wood playing which was something cooper couldn’t manage. When Nuno took over I felt he was a step up on cooper and I didn’t want cooper sacked.

Nuno is just not an adaptable manager and he's not a firefighting manager, which is why West Ham went down. We were piss poor under Nuno in our points deduction season bar his new manager bounce and we blamed it on the deduction messing with morale but West Ham shows the guy needs a pre season to properly get his players adapted to his one way of playing. If for whatever reason his pre season prep isn't perfect he will have a moan and the team will suffer. He's moaning at West Ham so he will have his excuses ready for why his system doesn't work this season either.

That said I still expect West Ham to be up in the top 6/8 whatever it is but I don't see Nuno walking the league like I expect West Ham fans will be wanting.

How many adaptable managers are there? Just tried to thing of some and to be fair my minds drawing a blank, most play their way and that's about it. Coops used to adapt mid way through a game in our promotion season and it worked a treat but can't remember him trying it much when we got promoted.

The expectations are far too high and it is going to be a long hard gruelling season for them. That horrible stadium of theirs does't help either.

If Nuno is not on top by the end of October he will be gone.

Chatting with son in law yesterday at lunch, who is a card carrying West Ham fan. Couple of debatable thoughts he had. He likes their ground and thinks they are nailed on for promotion this year.

I see he's publicly been saying that the club desperately need signings in. I feel like I've seen this movie before.
