Reading between the lines, Nuno's connections via Mendes coupled with his desire to bring Traore to every club that he was at is very much a case of somebody trying to coin it in for themselves.

It sticks out like a sore thumb. I can't think of any other players that Nuno was so desperate to sign or who had so many connections to Mendes previously.

This is not true, Mendes is still involved, other agencies use him as a broker to deals.

As an example, Bruno Fernandes is part of the same agency but is still close to Mendes. The agency he is with now is fairly new & is full of former Mendes connected people.

I’ll make it clear I don’t think Mendes is the boogey man he’s being painted as, but his influence is massive.
