53-77 is a bit of a thrashing in netball terms.A good win for Forest netball. I'm so pleased about how this is going, and the positive PR it generates for the club.
It's usually the men who need to keep it up.53-77 is a bit of a thrashing in netball terms.
well done, ladies.
Keep it up!
Did the manager go to a back 3 & bring Morato on?Close season, boredom reigns at Poodle Towers. Idly flicking through the channels and found the netball. I watched the whole game (well, from the bit I found to the end) and was clapping and cheering as the points mounted. Then, in typical Forest fashion, bit my nails as the lead dwindled.
I've been to see a few of the games at the arena - I was knackered just watching them!Close season, boredom reigns at Poodle Towers. Idly flicking through the channels and found the netball. That’s a shame we missed the playoffs. Some good games though. We lost last night at home to Birmingham Panthers, our second loss to them this year.
This was our penultimate game in the regular season and as we can't catch London Mavericks who are currently 4th, we will miss out on the end of season playoffs.
Depending on the results of Forest and Birmingham Panther's final games we will finish 5th or 6th of 8. We are currently on 19 points, 2 ahead of the Panthers with a vastly superior goal difference. If I undertsand it correctly teams get 3 league points for a win, 2 for a draw and 1 point if they lose by 5points or less in the game. had we scored 1 more point in the game last night we would have been pretty much guaranteed the 5th place at the end of the regular season. Last night's score was 69-75.
I the final round of games Forest are at home to 7th placed Leeds Rhinos, while Birmingham Panthers will play at home to Loughborough Lightning who are currently 2nd with 2 games to play.
Much as I would love that I can't see it. In Europe the other sports that clubs like Olympiakos have teams for, like Basketball, Volleyball, Handball and Water Polo etc are all, at the very least least semi-professional, and come with revenue from crowds, merch, sponsors and TV coverage and are part of Europeans Leagues. Maybe you could see him doing a NF basketball club given there is a small pro league in the UK.I'm glad this seems to have caught the imagination of the wider public. From the photos I've seen the games are well attended and to finish mid table in our inaugural season is a good achievement.
I hope we can grow this model into other sports now.
Proof if ever it was needed that we have found Gary Neville's burner accountMuch as I would love that I can't see it. Hard though it is for us to believe you can earn a good living if you're a volleyball player in Europe. Here there's nothing, nada, zilch. So EM would be getting nothing back if he were to pump money into the Nottingham club. I've mentioned before how when I played for Radio Trent Rockets volleyball, as was, in the National League we'd get foreign students from the Uni from say, Turkey, and they'd be dumbfounded at the idea that they were effectively paying subs to keep the club alive and for every training session and their kit. At home all of that would be provided for them. That was 30 years ago and it's not changed much. Some of our best players do go abroad but they're few and far between.
Manchester United did have a very basic multi-club project back in the 90's when I played for them, again in the national league, but it was a joke really. In fact here's my membership card complete with dodgy haircut, yes, I was a very long time ago a Manchester United player (don't hate me).
