Nottingham Forest Netball Club

See we're now branching out into other sports with the formation of a top tier Netball club.

I think it's a great idea personally. Netball is going from strength to strength and anything that promotes the brand (and women's sport!) has to be a good thing!

Has anyone done the 'Barcelona Tour' @ Camp Nou.
I did it a few years ago - From memory, 'Team Barca' consists of football, handball (I don't get that game). basketball, netball and I think swimming all for both men and women's teams - they are all housed in the same complex.
I just wonder if EM is planning something similar here, on a smaller scale of course, and this is why he is looking to move to a far larger site. I think I heard 50 acres mentioned somewhere.
No knowledge - just a thought

Superb. Netball is a terrific game, I played at a good level at Uni (amongst other activities that I won't mention). I applaud Forest for this initiative.

It'll be interesting to see if the club get involved with any other sports teams. You get the feeling that there may be a Basketball team and other things in the offing.

I teach a couple of girls who play at a high level. I have found myself putting it on when it has been on Sky- it is a great game to watch. I actually think it's better than Basketball.

Should be in the Olympics.

I've always wondered why Forest haven't been involved somehow with Nottingham Hoods or tried to start up a team to at some point rival Leicester Riders.

Would take years but having Forests name behind it surely will be a bigger pull than Riders if they ever get to that stage.

Hmmm can't agree at all on this statement. I just can't get my head around having to defend from a mile away tbh, maybe it's just me though.

Apologies in advance
Richi Sunnak was here the other week and there were lots of discussions around well-being and getting all kids fit & healthy and having facilities available. Could we be looking for government funding to put this multi-sports complex together - maybe buying the land - developing the infrastructure etc?
Or does 2 + 2 = 10

I think we ought to have a ladies water polo team in the same mould as Olympiakos. Perhaps some of the Greek ladies could be transferred to us to start it off?

That's an astonishing and impressive list of sports.

I concur with Strummer a few posts up when he said that multi sports clubs are the way to go. Marinakis might have been well ahead of the curve when he started doing this years ago at Olympiakos. It would be great if we could finally be the frontrunners in building something here and this might well be it.

What this does do if you connect the dots is make a lot more sense to EM's Toton proposal. Multi use areas for various sports, swimming, athletics etc. He talked about a vision and not thinking big enough, I think this is what he was actually talking about.

Just read this. We're thinking along the same lines I believe as per my post above.

I dont want to be a poo pooer, I think its a lovley idea and the idea is well meaning however its a bit divisive for a Nottingham surely for it to be Forest branded? We are a 2 club City so you may alienate people and they may not come and support the girls!!! Which is what we all want for them.

Fair point but I think it probably attracts more than it puts people off. Professional netball is still in its relative infancy and I think being able to latch onto an established brand will do them the world of good.

Leeds Rhinos already have a netball team and Wasps had one until the rugby team went kaput (nothing to do with the netball team).

As some may know, my local side is a multi-sport club, It has departments for fistball, field hockey, track and field, table tennis, e-sports and a department for Paralympians - Niko Kappel, who won the Gold in the shot put at the Rio de Janeiro paralympics, is a local lad and a VfB fan too.
