First Team Squad
There will never be a consensus on the goings-on of a football club, but speaking for myself;

- I am currently very content with the squad of players Forest have, and although i'd generally prefer two players competing for every position, it's just not feasible anymore for a non-top flight first team to have so many players all wanting to play every week. We've got a very decent championship first eleven, and what i would consider a relatively strong bench.

- I am happy that Forest has an acquisition panel. we maybe would like a little more info about it's activities, but i feel oddly sure that it is functioning, albeit frugally, so the club won't end up in dire straights in the years to come.

- I don't mind Forest spending some time in the championship. Few clubs bounce up the divisions and handle the pressure, especially of the Premiership. Whatever the "stature" of the club, and funds injected, they are only as good as the players they have. i don't believe enough of ours are currently quite good enough, but they will undoubtedly progress.

We had a great season last year, but we got a sniff of the Premiership and we (the fans) seem to be reluctant to give it up, but patience will do us all some good, and eventually we'll go up and at very least beat Derby's most recent attempt. god willing.

Very sensible. It won't be popular to start off with but after people settle down hopefully they will realise this. I would like more youth players blooded and possibly a loan or two that are loan to perm i.e. Gunter.

Our players haven't become bad overnight and this pressure they are feeling will hopefully unify them further. It might not be popular or ambitious but it is sustainable.

I'm gutted we didn't make signings though.

It's not just that that worries me. On Saturday, we looked tired and lethargic both on and off the ball. We have such a tight squad now that we do not have the luxury of rotating players and sitting tired legs out for a game or two.

Our players need to shape-up because there's no time off in lieu for the forseeable.

Well obviously it's not perfect but I'm just not prepared to murder the panel, Doughty or Billy just yet. The loan market has served us well before and could well do again. Gives us a chance to try before we buy, for example had we brought Boyd this transfer window would have found out he was too slow for our team after spending a few million, loaning him meant we could find that out for a fraction of the cost. Isaiah Osbourne wasn't a bad player but we found out he was a complete twat off the field and so didn't waste money.

It's not as glamorous or headline grabbing to bring in loans with a prospect of bringing them in for good however it saves money, which ****ig hell will we need when were promoted.

Well, let's hope Forest can create some sort of phoenix from the ashes that are the current transfer window débacle...
 
Indeed, I'm not happy we haven't signed anyone but pissing away a whole load of money would have knackered us more for the long run, it's not all doom and gloom.
 
If the players are tired after four games of the season we really are going to struggle. If you can't play 180 minutes of football a week in your twenties you should probably consider not doing it professionally. Only McK and adebola really have an excuse there.

Form is all in the mind; a couple of good wins and we'll start playing better. Billy is at least a very good man-manager (in the BC mould) and adverse circumstances/publicity will probably help rather than hinder him in motivating the team. IMO we do have a real problem with squad depth and a lack of quality in some positions that will make us less competitive than last season, but hopefully we'll get a couple of loans that will fill the gaps until jan.
 
You can look at it that the only reason the club haven't made signings (and those players remember "want to come to Forest") is that the people at the club holding the purse strings don't think it is financially viable to sign them.

Either they don't think the transfer fee is reasonable, or the wages required are too much (or a combination of the two).

If the club think that way, and want to ensure Forest are solvent as a business, then fine.

But all I'd say to the Board is *PLEASE* tell us if this is the case.
 
It's not just the cost of signing new players in the short term, but what will be the long term cost to the club by not signing new players?
 
also have people not thought that the players might actualy also want it as much as the fans? especialy after seeing perch play for newcastle in the prem so what makes you think they will be happy to hang around while we slowly progress into the prem?

also surely to build a team capable of staying up we actualy need to buy players. 2 windows have passed with little progresion also alot of key players are getting older and will require replacing at more cost to the club
