Let me begin by saying, thank you for what was arguably our toughest home game of the season. I was at the ground and the conditions were rough.

In all honestly, you did yourselfs proud tonight. In your football and support. Compare your result to the likes of Cardiff, when they played us at St. James.

Your fans were loud, and gave the game a pretty good atmosphere. You also had your fair share of oportunities. Which lets be fair, your strikers didnt have their best of games. Thank god.

I was dreading this game from a Geordie perspective, but am pleased knowing we went home wih three points. Knowing we'd been in a game.

Cheers - And all the best. Hope to see you in the Prem next season.

Mick ;)

I think the one thing Sky's commentary did get right was we are a bit toothless up front. If we get promoted we are gonna need to spend big on a proven first-class striker. Earnshaw & Blackstock aint gonna cut it

We didn't really have any chances though did we? Tyson should have scored and Blackstock had a half chance first half.

We were overrun in midfield - nothing strikers can do about that. Earnie and Blackstock will bury chances all day if the midfield provides.

Again, it was a scrappy game. If your strikers had been on form, I would have shitted myself.

What? Blackstock had a clear chance on goal, he could have controlled it first, but went for the volley and fluffed it.

We really weren't overrun in midfield...well..till they scored, then we were.

Blackstock had two very good chances, one in the first half when he missed his kick and one in the second when he tried to take a touch and the ball was cleared.

In the Premier League they would go down as good chances.

Equally Ameobi's goal was from a half chance, maybe a bit of fortune that it went through Perch's legs and in off the far post but that was the difference, taking chances.
