I know this was mentioned a while back, but Silverdale will NOT be providing transport this coming season, HURRAH i hear you all say.
Anyway the official supporters transport for away games is now provided by SKILLS so hopefully they will be a lot better, plus they are also having a pickup point on Maid Marion Way before going to the City Ground.

I remember travelling away in the 80's with Camms collaspeables departing from Mount Street bus station. We were lucky if we made it to the motorway before something went wrong.

We went to Wembley a couple of times in Nottingham City Transport green double deckers :D

Coaches are coaches, I don't think a different provider will make much odds to be honest.

As long as the price stays reasonable (Silverdale were cheaper than services provided by most other clubs) I don't particularly care.

I've never had reason to complain. Although I don't like being rocked out of slumber by stewards demanding tips for the driver :)

We had an HGV mechanic who travelled on ours. Busman's holiday or what :D

My first trips were on Trent buses in the 1960's leaving from Huntingdon Street. I remember leaving for Southampton at 0730 and, after having to wait for the coaches to be replaced because the Southampton fans smashed them up, we got back at 0045 the following morning. No toilets of course but if you needed a pee the driver would open the door whilst you were still moving so that you could empty your bladder. Ladies had to wait until they arrived in Nottingham.

It is interesting to read the prices charged by other clubs nowadays, Ipswich charged £43 for their transport to Plymouth last year and this year West Brom are charging £18 to the City Ground where we are charging £13 to the Hawthorns.

The contract has been moved to Skills mainly because of the standard of coaches provided by Silverdales. Sometimes they sent coaches with no toilets, on one occasion they sent a coach directly from the spray booth with 'overspray' on the windows and tyres and most did not have radios, DVDs etc. that worked.

I might give the official coach a try this season. Havent used it for years but i'm on the road quite a bit with my job so might make a nice change from driving to some of the furthest away days. It also means i could drink too.

I reckon that's the biggest bonus - the coaches generally get there a couple of hours before kick off so there is time to find a decent pub and have a drink and something to eat.

Of course in certain places it's a bit of a trek to find a pub, Reading, Derby, Bristol and Doncaster all involve a hike but generally speaking there is somewhere that's happy to accept away fans.

Depending on the destination coaches are often the best compromise. Reading is a 'mare though because of the location of the ground being so far from anywhere decent.

A cheeky hip flask on the coach itself can be a helpful diversion :D
