Doughty and Arthur should not be blamed for this season.

We provided Calderwood what he asked for, spending big.

And now we have shown we will back Davies, With 4 very big name loans being sealed.

We were refuted by players in January because we didn't want to spend big at that time, now we have 4 loans all brought in with less than 10 games to go. 7 loans in total, 5 of which can play at a given time, reeks of desperation. Why didn't they give Billy the money in January? so they can be blamed, the January window was crucial.

No guarantees with loans,Billy should have been backed with hard cash. The board will have got lucky if we stay up.

We started the season with an inadequate squad.

The 'acquisition panel', of which ND/MA are members should be blamed.

We've spent more than any other team in this league - how can they be blamed? You didn't see Doncaster or Swansea splashing £2.5 on a striker or coughing up the money to bring in McSheffrey et al on loan.

Credit where credits due they have given us some cash this year - it's the players fault if we don't stay up this time. At least Doncaster or Swansea would have an excuse if they went down, we don't.

Colin Calderwood WANTED a small squad and Colin Calderwood got a small squad, we are now paying for that.

The chairman and Arthur cannot be blamed if we go down. We were the high spenders in the summer and although we didnt get anyone in January Billy said we would not be held to ransom.

We have now brought in several top players on loan gunter, mcsheffery, blackstock etc who will all be pretty high wages.

If we go down, it will ultimately be the players who have under performed over the course of the season. Saying that, i do believe we will stay up!

You Reds!!

I was going to get home early today and cut the grass - it's been lovely here this week. The weather was fantastic until I got 5 miles from home and it's been chucking it down ever since.

It makes no sense to me but thats what the man said before the start of the season. Ridiculous piece of judgement on Calderwoods behalf, it beggars beleive

I do blame them partly though.

I am a Doughty fan (can't say the same for Marthur) for the money invested in the club etc. but the delay in sacking Calderwood (since it was openly admitted afterwards firing CC was in their minds for a while) and the transfer panel system being in place etc. etc. has delayed this club in it's attempt at survival and it could even cost us our place in the league.

Perhaps someone should be brought in to deal with the management selections and the way is club run. Either way there have been errors on their part.

I think the basic idea was, using a single position as an example - If we have a starting left-back, an experienced back up left-back and a promising young left-back, then the experienced back-up isn't needed as the a) cost more money in wages and b) slow down the development of the young player, as in the case that the first choice isn't availablre, you always pick the back-up and the promising youngster never gets to play. I guess the ultimate aim is in developing your youngsters into better players than what you had originally...
The other advantage it brings is ion squad untiy, as you don't have a bunch of experienced players constantly whingeing that they're not getting first team football and sulking about the place. I realise that shouldn't be the case, but these are the overgrown children that modern football has created.

...the flaws in this plan are obvious. Firstly, if you have a lot of injuries in a lot of positions, as we have at times this season, then you HAVE to play a lot of youngsters all at the same time and you create a naive and inexperienced team. You're also forced into playing the youngsters regardless of whether they are ready and you can't pick and choose the easier games to ease them into.

You can't say 'they've given the managers money therefore we can't blame them' as they both have a big say on how the money is spent.

Yes the £4m spent in the summer was ambitious and should've been enough to see us comfortable this season but despite the big outlay we started the season with a squad lacking balance, experience and depth. If the budget for the summer transfer window was £4m, then you have to say spending £3.8m of it on 2 strikers (one with a serious injury) was a bit daft.

It's why they should have an experienced ex-Manager, someone with plenty of contacts to help them in these situations, someone to advise them that having a 2nd senior 'keeper might be a good idea, someone to tell them that constantly asking centre halves to play at full back will eventually come back to bite them on the arse. A 'consultant' if you like.

Oh...

I'm not really sure how you can say this after the failure to sign Lee Camp and other targets when we desperately needed then in january.

So hypathetically if QPR wanted £2m for Lee Camp and Camp himself wanted 15,000 a week, was it right or wrong that we didn't sign him?

....Or alternatively we can sod the logic and just call it a failure.

I blame it all on Paul Smith.

If we go down its all due to him, without a doubt and I will start countless threads in answer to all the MA and ND ones blaming it all upon PS.

On what grounds would describe the failure to sign Lee Camp then. Bearing in mind, his stay at Forest was an average stay, brilliant at Dirby, earned a reputation he could'nt live up to maybe ?

I base my view on two sides in this division have rejected him, both Dirby and his present club QPR, so why does that record immediatly make him suitable for Forest ??

I think he did a rather excellent job of living up to the hype post Derby, his stay certainly wasn't average, either. He played a massive part in turning round our form after an embarrassing start.

I don't think his previous record has anything to do with it, although he was runner up in QPR's POTY competition last year but then again judging players solely on what's happened at other clubs is a bit daft. Anyway, I think his suitability for Forest was perfectly illustrated during his successful loan spell.
