Well…it’s not contract length. It runs until 2027.

Release clause, deflated price / Dominguez swap, financial difficulties…all of the above.

Yeah it does seem odd. Perhaps looking at those stats he's more of an old fashioned 'head it and kick it' type who probably aren't as sought after these days. It's more trendy to have a CB who can pass it under the pressure of a press than one who would kill his own family for a clean sheet.

I know nowt about him to be honest but if he's good at the basics then that in theory should improve us.

He'll win lots in the air, and get a goal or two. He's not the fastest.

I think he'll compliment Murillo well.

How come we got Murillo for the money we did? Hudson Odoi? Elanga? Brighton seem to pull these type of signings off all the time .

Only saw him in the EL final and in the Euro's but he looked very good, especially in the final. Being linked with him and Bijol are very encouraging.

I suspect that the pen would have sealed the deal but to include a keyring as well really strengthens the bid, good work from the recruitment team there

He’s not good enough on the ball for the top, top teams and arguably not quick enough either.

But he solves our biggest defensive problems and feels a perfect fit with Murillo.

He is earning serious £££ at Fiorentina and would easily become our highest paid player if we matched it, which we’d have to since he has 3 years to run. This probably explains the “reasonable” fee. His PSR charge would still be significant.

I don’t know how good he is apart from what I’ve seen. But Everytime I’ve watched him he’s been very good.

The fact is he’s played about 40 games for the past 6 seasons in Italy is a big plus.

I think at the end of the day there isn’t much logic in transfer fees nowadays, it does seem like a bargain on paper and we seem pretty good at pouncing on deals that have good value at the moment.
