Nigel Doughty!

A special praise must be said for ND as without him appointing BD as manager we wouldn't be where we are now, when BD was appointed it's fair to say that a vast amount of Forest fans weren't exactly over the moon but he knew that BD was the right man for the job, he's also put his hand in his pockets for funds at the start of this season and he could do it again in the transfer window.

Our owner, and the way our football club is run, should be the envy of the entire football league.

Especially the way they employed Joe Kinear, Gary Megson and Colin Calderwood. This alone should make them envious.

::) ::) ::) ::)

There's always one isn't there? Mistakes have been made in the past btu they are in the past now and therefore irrelevant. Therefore bringing it up is completely unnecessary

ND has got the right man and has backed him to the hilt, cannot fault the man one iota at the moment.

Yes, especially Colin Calderwood who won us promotion and signed Cohen, Camp, Wilson....anyway can't even be arsed, my work on in this department is done. Every single chairman has to hire and fire from time to time, their off the field work doesn't become good or bad solely based on whethere the current team is winning or not.

But who cares, we're good again! 8)

So you are in favour of he new stadium now then? What changed your mind?

Is that French for I'm sorry, I was wrong? (joke!) :D

No, I still don't approve of the stadium. I think it's too far away from the city, but to be honest I can't really argue with the sums behind it can I? That's my personal preference, and as such I happily declare that in my signature. I dare say when it's built though, our new ground will actually be the envy many.

Calderwood put the pieces together on the leftovers of his predecessors. I think we forget what he did. I wanted BD after the Preston game the last time we were in the championship when they played us off the park at Deepdale... I think it was 4-0. The football was excellent by them. I also wanted him after Diaby got rid. THE culprit was Platte.

Billy has taken that that was and added to it his experience and general know how. I'd give him that 10 year contract he wanted if you want a club to run at a profit, cuz he'll do it. We'd also get some glory along the way. This attitude clubs have now where they sack managers not performing at the next level is pathetic. Who is the best person to get you back there if its not great the first time? They are. He could be a Clough, a Fergie to us. We have been there and done it, a return to greatness might be on the cards. We're still a big name in the football world. Ask Scholari!

Check my posts of four years ago when I told you we were so lucky to have a real fan in charge of our club.

It is amazing to think that a little over a year ago this board was full of "Doughty out" merchants.
Where are they all by the way ?

Megson on paper was a good appointment, and where results where bloody awfull he did sort out alot of shit at the club.
Calderwood got us promoted and built the basis of our team now so without him we wouldnt be 2nd in the league :)

Everyone is entitled to make mistakes, even our Chairman.

But I'll tell you what, every time I walk in to the City Ground, I thank God that we have a genuine fan in Mr Doughty as our Chairman; a businessman who knows how to run his club properly!

Oh the wonder of hindsight, how strong it makes the meek who wish to scoff

Kinnear had a proven track record when he was appointed. So did Megson who just happened to rid the club off it's dead wood. Calderwood got us promoted & made some excellent signings.

What a difference a year makes to public opinion. ;D

Nigel Doughty has made some very shrewd, clever and intelligent appointments over the years which were not appreciated at the time. Even the Megsons and Calderwoods of this world achieved straight short term objectives be them to ruthlessly clear out and to get us up and get us into a position where we could build.

The appointment of Billy Davies was greeted with mixed opinion. The only way to silence the critics is to produce results and performances and it's heart warming to hear people speak fondly of Nigel and to respect the man ultimately responsible for every move our club makes.

Nigel is a Red. Of that much I have never been more sure.

Even Kilburn has packed away his mask and bedsheets. ;D

ND has made some massive bloopers in the past for sure (Joking Ear and ugh Megson) but he's finally come good appointing KING BILLY. I remember him saying some years back that him and his team (i.e. Martha) weren't football experts, but they've finally signed us a diamond in the wee Scot. ONWARDS AND UPWARDS! YOU REDS!

I'll reserve my praise when we get to the premiership and ND gives BD a big transfer budget to spend on the players he wants.

Till then , there's always a question mark because as good as our season has been , another screwup in the transfer window (be it in january or in the summer) can easily f*ck up what has gone before. It will p*ss off Billy boy and with so many job openings in the managerial office nowadays , he can become disillusioned and get mardy in order to go elsewhere.
