Nigel Doughty - January

Following those two wins and 9 goals scored, I bet Nigel Doughty is as excited as us lot and feeling very buoyed by our form. This could be perfect timing if we maintain this for a few more games and as we approach January shopping window with Nigel in a good mood he may well splash the cash again :)

I'm not sure his propensity to invest is directly correlated to mood alone, however, if we maintain our position - or (ye Gods, surely not?) improve upon it goign into the transfer window then it would make sense to allow Billy to strengthen solidly in the transfer window.

Well I think he knows he's got the right man for the job after this seasons form and will trust in Billy to give him some return if he invests more.

Would be interesting to hear from ND now, see what his thoughts have been so far this season

Probably something along the lines of "f*** me sideways, I've gotten it right".

I have it on reasonable authority that, from Billy's wish list of five players for January he has been told he can have three.

Do you think Billy was clever enough to know that he wanted 3, but would get 2 less than he wanted, so asked for 5?

Or stupid enough not to ask for seven when he wanted five?

Shorey permanent in January?

Also, who might we have to fight to keep? We can't be escaping the attention of some lower Premier teams.

No thanks , everytime he speaks up before a transfer window , we get screwed.

Shorey, Bale and Raddy signed permanently would make me very happy indeed.

Shorey won't come cheap - we'll have to pay £1.5m for Majewski and another £3m if Bale eventually arrives.

If Billy does have a budget I'd like to know what sort of money he is likely to be spending.

Other than Newcastle I can't see anyone else in this league spending similar amounts.

Shorey may not come cheap, but has he already shown his worth? He has "created" another midfielder. Plus, do we want Shorey or Lynch/Bennett at LB?

He did, yes, but Spurs will be spending again in January in order to try and keep in touch with the top sides in the league.

I can see them trying to get Wayne Bridge as he looks to be losing favour at City - I think Hughes is getting a bit frustrated with his defence and will be looking to bring in replacements in January as well.

Spurs will probably buy a centre-back or two as well which will mean Dawson is available in the summer for us to sign if we go up...

Only because of the injuries they have at the back.

Rednapp has already stated that he will be looking to bring in 2/3 defenders during January, so that will ultimately dump Bale down the pecking order once again.

If Rednapp is to spend to shore is defence up he will also need to generate some cash from somewhere and £3m for Bale will add power to his elbow.

I for one believe this will happen.

Why do we need Shorey and Bale? isn't that overkill?

If we plan on playing Bale in midfield why not just buy a winger - a cheaper one

We want quality if we have any ambitions - we've had enough "Cheap" make do players for too long.

You can have all the cheap players you want but I like the way the club are moving at the moment and when I pay 25 quid a throw to watch my team I want to see quality.

If we signed up any of Shorey and Majewski permanently that would be a boost. After that, perhaps a look at central defenders? What about loans from the Premier League - could their wages be included in the transfer budget?

They generally are but Billy doesn't like loan signings unless there's something a bit more permanent at the end.

If our league position was still top 6 by January then we should be looking into this (if we're not already).
