The fragile love affair Nige has had with Forest fans could soon be over. He is beginning to be 'linked' with players of other clubs. He has already p-ssed off Blackpool and now he could p-ss off us lot. It seems he likes to let rumours escape into the press - Barker of Blackpool, Nathan Tyson of Forest - without first registering an interest with the club concerned. I don't like this kind of 'negotiation' - at best, you can laugh it off - at worst, the player gets unsettled and starts thinking about leaving. A pox on the man (if he has had anything to do with this). It's bad manners - I'm not sure his old man did this without letting the parent club know first.

Only take it seriously if they mention a realistic sum. £400,000 they clearly can't afford him.

Although thats the most expensive player they've been linked with :D :D

Well, you read it pal. This is banter - look it up if you have a dictionary. If you think a thread is pointless.......
1. Don't reply to it
2. Start one yourself (preferably on your own site).
And watch your language when you're talking to me.

And its a democratic forum for folks that support Forest. You'll always be wrong. A bit like the "we'd talk for 20 minutes and decide that I was right" quote from the bloke your gaffer will never be.

Comparing Nigel's antics with Brian's is rather silly anyway, it's a very different and much more regulated game these days compared to those days. Some things are better, some less so.

It is pretty common practice to 'leak' targets to the media to unsettle them, but to be honest, I can't really get too wound up by it in this instance - because if a player gets unsettled or wants to go to them over such banal speculation, then we're better off without them.

There's no way we'd sell Tys for £400k, so no need to worry.

It's a good tactic as far as I'm concerned. Similar to one BD uses? Confirming that Blackstock is a main target Evans aswell. Instead of not saying anything BD goes on to say how highly he rates the players and why the press have found out he is linked because of his qualities.

It does what you precisely said unsettles players, tempts them away before an offer has been made. It just makes negotiations with the seller a whole lot easier because the players mind is already set on leaving.

Managers all across the country do it. Fergie with Berbatov worked a treat for example and even though Barry stayed the interest Liverpool showed through the media worked well for them. The offer just was not good enough on their part.

Cloughie was inspired by Julie Andrews in "The Sound of Music":

"Brown paper packages tied up with strings,
These are a few of my favorite things."

Maybe he should have gone to the House of Commons after all?

I just saw Nigel at Trowell services getting into the passenger side of a car. He was carrying a brown paper bag. I thought to my self that it looked like an old-fashioned episode of "Bung and Run with Brian & Ronnie" until I realised it was a BurgerKing Whopper.

If he is bringing in players like Jake Buxton then the safety of the club should be feared. He will achieve nothing with derby and will be a managerial failure.

I heard Buxton described as a 'lower league gem' and mentioned in the same breath as Roy Keane.

Of course it was derby fan who said this - I had to laugh.

I think Nigel will do well to equal their final league position (18th) next season.

I'm assuming Commons was driving?
