Nigel Adkins taking the P*ss?

lol

Clearly a pisstake. Forest must mess up at least 75% of all corners and free-kicks per game by law and 150% of all throw ins ...

We do have players capable of good free kicks though.

McGugan scored some cracking goals from free kicks in League 1. And Earnshaw can usually have a good crack too.

Considering the make up of our team, it's shocking how bad we actually are from set-pieces.

It really does seem like most of our corners don't get past the first man.

Good delivery into the penalty area? Don't we usually pass around the edge of it and get annoyed because nobody will have a shot or find a man in a shooting position?

With their tall stickman Rob Jones and our vulnerability in the air , i worry about their set pieces more.

Haha.

Could be a way to say we are shit at that and he considers it our strongest point ?

Still think we can win tonight providing we finish the chances we get like Sunday. Was that a game where 1 shot on target resulted in 1 goal????

He must have had a poor scouting report done. Oh look they have Adebola and Blackstock, they're tall they must be good at set pieces.

I'm getting a bit fed up of short corners and not necessarily just Forest. In open play wingers are told to get as near to the byline as possible before crossing as it's harder for a defender to clear and easier for an attacking player to score. Admittedly part of this is due to players more often than not running towards their own goal but it's still true of set-pieces and corners so why whenever we get one do we look to move it out and let defenders put pressure on the cross rather than just getting it in the box?

Did tonight! Guess he was right!

You beat me to it.

Now, would Chambers have scored if he hadn't have said it? haha

We were much better at corners/freekicks today than usual!

Majewski spurned some Perverse balls-in, early on.

Givnig Chambo more a free reign to attack from set plays is genius. He's always in the mix and causing bother, and can get back to defend quicker than Wes.

He seems to win far more attacking headers than Wes too...whilst you'll very rarely see Wes lose a defensive header, I can't remember the last time I saw him win one when he goes up for set pieces...as bourne out by his goalscoring record.

That's because he has very poor heading ability. He has the athleticism to often 'put his head on the ball' when it's whacked into defence, but at the other end of the pitch you need to attack the ball and he doesn't have the technical ability to do that very well.

If I am right in thinking that he was taking the mick saying set pieces were our strongest point that makes last nights performance a whole lot more satisfying.

Majewski seemed to put them in the right areas 9 times out of 10 and the delivery from Cohen for the goal in was fantastic.

Thought this was a good quote.

Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins:
"The goals changed the game for us"

hahaha. He came across as a bit of a tit in his post-match interview.

He used the phrase "zero zero"; why not just say nil nil?

And he said they lost because they didn't get the "rub of the green".... Now I'm not exactly sure what that means. Does it mean their team had very limited creativity, their team couldn't break down our defence, and that they couldn't cope with our attacking flair??

Because they are the actual reasons they lost.

I thought he came over quite well in his interviews.

He conceded that we were the better team, but to be fair to Scunthorpe they did have a little bad luck.

Murphy going off injured cost them at least a point as we weren't going to get anything past him last night in my opinion.

It's also worth remembering that he was laughed at for saying we were dangerous from set plays yesterday - I guess there is a reason he is employed in the industry and we're just fans.

The bloke was a time wasting prime-Aberdeen-Angus-rib-eye w**k shaft though, so all's fair!
