Nicolò Savona

Schira says his move to Atlanta is almost done. No mention of fee but reckon we got our money back or even a small profit

Really building the war chest with Anderson, Carmo, Taiwo and Savona gone/going. Around 160mn all told in fees. Not going into SCR but that's healthy.
I suspect we can add Bakwa and Morato to that little list. Today's friendly might possibly help throw more light on this.

Good stuff. Now we're cooking with gas and it'll be interesting to see the fee. If it's relative to the Awoniyi mugging Atalanta could be giving us about £60m.

Building a war chest is all well and good until you analyse why you got beaten and you note that desperate a large war chest, nobody thought to buy any weapons before the battle.

I liked him, hoped he would stay with us - he was very good back up and a decent player. I think we might regret this one.
So the clear out continues, just where the hell is this this stiker we have needed for the last 18 months ?

While Aina is the better full back, I don't think there is much between the two in a wing back role. Savona's goals against Utd and Liverpool last season are examples where I doubt Aina would have made those sorts of runs into the box.

I'd much rather keep him as the alternate on the right than Da Silva(I know Neco cam cover too)

Could excel more in the RWB position as shown with his good finishes against Man U and the Scouse.
I do not think he is anywhere near the level to be a in 4 though.

He certainly didn't disgrace himself last season, so I'm not sure why his value wouldn't have increased after a year in arguably the best league in the world? He's still young and has potential so why should we be happy to just break even?

Latest reports are that we don’t intend to sell him
I still think a move could happen.
Are we now not targeting a wing back then?

Because if we are then Savona becomes 3rd choice RWB at best. Then with Diomande coming in and Jair and Morato still here he's 6th choice CB at best and that's only if the club actually see him as an option there.

Obviously there is SCR to consider as well, Savona won't cost loads in that sense but it could be tight for us and every little counts. Then only being able to name 25 players in the squad of course.

He hasn’t played a minute in preseason has he? And I didn’t spot him yesterday among all the players in the Taiwo send-off or watching in the stands (I was right behind them all). So who knows what the plan is. I suspect a loan and a reassessment in January.

If the team that’s in for him is managed by Amorim, I can see why he would also appeal to glasner, they both play the same formations but with different styles. If he comes back to fitness I could see glasner wanting to keep hold of him but again, if there’s a better option as a back up.. maybe he’d twist? Either way, they are going to be playing second fiddle behind aina and Williams so without Europe maybe this is how he is happy for us to go this season?

Excuse me if I've missed it, but has the extent of his injury ever been offically confirmed?
Given that he's so far been nowhere near pre-season preparations, he's clearly some distance away from being fit, which begs the question why he's been mentioned in transfer gossip?

He had knee surgery in March. If he'd been playing injured whilst Aina came back that would probably have made it worse as well, and those can take months depending on what the issue is.

It's possible he is still recovering from it, and that's why he's nowhere near preseason, but it's also possible that the reason why he's been nowhere near preseason is that either he's asked to leave and the club are OK with that or the club have advised him he's no longer in their plans and he's being sold. In that situation I can't see that the club would be wanting to risk him getting an injury in preseason which would put the sale in jeopardy.

You make valid points of course, but if he's basically free of injury, I don't see Forest preventing him from being involved in pre-season in order not to risk him in anticipation of a transfer away. He could be training away from view with the B-team/academy players, but I'm sure it would be known if that's the case.
