It's also half empty every week
Its weird because every time I've seen them on tv there seems a plethora of empty seats but average attendance figures show 30k! Maybe they use the same clickers as the sheep to count them in

There has been multiple matches where they got 20k.

The 30k average attendence figure is complete rubbish. Just YouTube any of their matches, stadium is half empty every game.

First one I look at, Brentford game, official attendence was 30,141 - was like this all the way around:

Derby-esque.

I've just read an article on the BBC, not sure how to link it but its about premier league clubs measuring attendances and being overstated.

Its ticket sales that include season tickets whether attended or not, actual sales and hospitality tickets (freebies) whether used or not.

In the article it describes west having an official attendance of 55k when the council said 39k actually attended.

All 92 clubs use the same metric : tickets sold. But what the really mean is tickets issued, as a free ticket is technically sold for £0.00 to make a legal contract.

Been that way for a long time.

It's actually stipulated in the regulations of both EPL and EFL.

It's mad.

So technically you could sell 30,000 tickets/season tickets. For whatever reason nobody turns up, empty ground, but the attendance reads 30,000.

That's barmy.

That's correct.

There are other market forces that prevent a club from doing that, bit it principle thats how it works.

You also make the club more appealing than it is. Really, you could give away a load of tickets to boost attendance figures for would be investors.

I think it should be stopped personally, attendance figures should be genuine

Same as every club. It's all done on tickets sold.
But at Forest you can give your st to someone. My dad does it when me and my daughter go. Mine is a slight upgrade cost as he’s an oap but daughter is a concession too so it just gets sent out to her name free.

If BHA are charging fans like that it is disgraceful and they deserve empty seats.

Forest didn’t apply the max 4 upgrades per season card last season - but I understand that this will be
enforced this time around.

I think a lot of people abuse it as they buy an extra kid ticket for nowt and just use it for priority / ticket for bigger games.

I guess this is the case with a lot of Brighton games. Especially as I imagine a lot of their fans will probably work in London, school nights etc… Makes sense the upgrade system is tgere for this. A lot of clubs do a buy back too so you can sell an unused st. Leeds do this.

I wasn’t having a go at kids not going to some games, just I know a few people who bought a primary aged kid knowing it can just be used as and when and guaranteed for not much money. I know a family who bought one for legroom a few years ago!!

Friend of mine has a Man City season ticket. She however lives in Milan and rarely goes back. I think they have a sell back scheme for games she can’t make it.

Seems like a waste to me but what do I know.
