Bit of an empty promise they are all boarded up since they went under. Maybe John Lewis?

Apparently he heard that Hodge had Maradona's shirt and became a Forest fan. Wants to join the famous club he heard about when he was a young lad in Argentina.

Is he actually good though (now)? Does anyone actually watch him regularly?

Because Ajax defend like clowns and he was often not even picked last season, in a Mickey Mouse league.

6 Champions league group matches but he didn’t play until game 5 when qualification was already in the bag. Then he played the first leg of the knock-out round but only on the bench for the 2nd leg.

In the league he made the starting eleven 9 times and completed 90 minutes just four times. Something doesn’t seem right there?
Ajax conceded 19 league goals all season. Have you watched them at all?

I think a lot of the issue is he wanted out so Ten Haag went with players who wanted to be there. Not too uncommon.

I think presented with option of Max Lowe or Argentinas starting LB I think I’d go the latter.

Yeah I watched them - I was playing Devil's Advocate because there was a lot of hype around him and I'd seen a bit of him that didn't justify it. The quality in the league isn't great and they're head and shoulders better than most of the other sides, so that 19 goals isn't as much a comment on the defending as it sounds. It's like attack vs defence for a lot of their matches (they averaged 66.6% possession in the league).

He wanted a move but I was told by a supporter they came to an agreement that he could leave for a low fee at the end of the season so it shouldn't have been an issue re not being picked. He lost his place after a red card in the super cup led to them losing 4-0 at the start of the season, which left the coach unimpressed. Daley Blind is a decent player but for the fanfare you would expect him to get that place over him. Discipline (cards, free-kicks and defending) don't seem to be his strong point. Whoscored.com average rating in the league was 6.63, the 19th highest in the squad.

And obviously the choice isn't him or Lowe you little tinker!

Well, I've got much more confidence in our recruitment set-up than I used to have so I'm happy if they're happy, just a question mark for me from someone who's watched them a bit compared to the hype. Sounds like we've moved on to other targets though.

I know they're more established, but surely we can compete with Brighton for signings?

Why? Were one of the favourites to go down, they're a fairly stable established premier League club, what we did 40 years ago is irrelevant to players today.

Not sure PZ meant anything regarding Clough.

If Brighton are what we inspire to be then we have to compete with them.

It's convincing players we won't go down, as we're now a small fish in a huge ocean. We can't compete on wages (yet) so we have to find other ways to convince players to come i.e MGW using the Cooper factor or guaranteeing playing time.

I mean nope. As you say an established team, anyone that comes here knows relegation is a distinct possibility unlike Brighton. Richer club, richer owner, established way to prove yourself in the PL for a big money move and probably the most admired manager in the division.

Brighton are a well run established PL club who are likely to finish top ten, with a bigger more modern stadium.

Brighton snuck 9th last season, but that's a league of teams with Palace, Brentford, Soton, Villa, Everton, Leeds et al that if we make the signings were aiming for we can absolutely compete in. Its a bit chicken and egg, but we're building momentum - Henderson done, Awoniyi done, Johnson extended. Cooper extension and Niakhate sounds close. We have momentum, and with each signing it gives more confidence for other prospective signings. We have nothing to fear from those clubs.

Not sure I agree on the wages question - so long as we put a relegation clause in which I gather is increasingly standard, why couldn't we compete on wages with the likes of Brighton & Palace? Our revenue this season would presumably be roughly comparable.

Roughly, though th
Brighton have a bigger stadium? Have you been smoking the pipe?

32k capacity. I've not experienced their corporate but imagine it's a step up from ours.
