Posturing.

If the deal gets done today would he be eligible for Brum tonight?

Don't think so, he wouldn't be registered in time, would he?

What makes you think we are looking to sign him at the moment? I doubt he would sign permanently anyway at this point, with Premier League football far from assured.

Martin O'Neil says he doesn't want to let him go, but will not play him.

Shorey knows this and will have to force the issue and lose out on payment of his contract.

MON is trying to force the issue so Aston Villa save money on his contract. I would say this is sensible business practise. I'd also say the fact we only extended the current deal till the end of the month would mean that a deal has been very much agreed in principle and it's a matter of crossing the i's and dotting the t's

.

The phrase used was 'not actively looking to sell him' well i'm not actively looking to shag pvhs son but if someone offered me 1.5 million i would.

I don't think that is the problem, it would just be the agreement to not play him in the FA cup between the clubs removed.

technically he is already registered with us so he could play but Aston Villa havnt given us permission to play him. If we signed him fully then id guess the old law about being registered before the draw was made would come into it somehow.

Wouldn't be eligible for tonight anyway.

Players have to be registered before the draw is made to be able to play in a cup match.

he would, as he'd be a villa player still and MON would give him permission.

To play in a replay you need to be signed in time to play in the first game. So no, whatever happens with Shorey, he can't play tonight. It's the same with Brum's new signing, Michel.

I honestly can't see Shorey signing permanently anyway. He'll probably be earning double what our top earners are on and he's not going to take a massive cut with 18 months left on his current deal. At the very best we'll get him on a long term loan 'til the summer.

At last, a realist.
