Aston Villa defender Nicky Shorey, who is on loan at Fulham, could be in trouble with Fifa after playing for his third club this season - breaking the world governing body's rule of only being allowed to play for two clubs in a season.

The Daily Mail makes up the rules as it sees fit. If Shorey was an overseas player they would have started a witchhunt by now.

Can't we just pack up on Shorey stories ?

The bloke plays for Fulham now, leave it now until the possible summer speculation.

It has already been established that he was an emergency loan for us so can play for a 3rd club, or some crap like that.

And the same goes for Arron Davies who's transfer was scuppered for the same reason!!!!

Aye, I meant Davies wasn't on an emergency loan. Should've made that clearer. Shorey was.

Stupid unnecessarily confusing rules.

The Official Bodies are very sure of their rules.

The trouble is that they've each got their own set, and The FA version doesn't agree with what FIFA ask for.

The transfer window and the 2 club rule are FIFA mandated, but The FA & FL have used the emergency loan system to create huge loopholes in both which FIFA don't much like.

Maybe things will change if FIFA put enough pressure on the FA/FL, but they can't touch Shorey or anyone else who moved last month.
