Yeah I just saw this too. Not surprising really. Let's hope he can live up to the number!

I was hoping to see Bale in 3 but I won't complain - I'm sure Shorey won't embarrass us in it.

I hope that people don't judge him against any of the illustrious former owners of the shirt, that will only lead to tears

Lockwood, Padula, Oyen and Rogers?

I'm sure he'll be fine.

Who will BooBaby boo?
Alan Rogers is the 2nd best forest left back i've seen

If shorey is better for us than rogers was at his peak i'll be more than happy, if he's better than stu - i'll walk home

He was no Brett Williams!

Alan Wright was better than the fat Scouser. That said, his second spell with us does sour my views of him immeasurably, his first spell did have some merit.

Winnie - i thought you'd gone approaching?

i've two thoughts about tyour post

alan wright, while he played for villa, had the beating of stevie stone and was a good left back but he had past his sell-by date when he came to forest

and

alan rogers wasnt fat, he was short and strong. At his peak he was one of our best players

I didn't want to interfere with my footying so no approach for me tonight :)

Rogers was good in spells first time round, but still pretty inconsistent from my memory.

I like Wright because he could pass a ball, which was a real novelty under Calderwood :)

In a seven-year spell at The Madejski Stadium he made more than 300 league and cup appearances and was voted Reading's greatest ever left back in a supporters' poll.

He's clearly better than Pearce then

I reckon it's a bit strange giving a loan player the no.3 shirt. It's not as if he wore no 3 at Villa - he was no. 21

Is it possible that he's been given it as a longer term measure, meaning that the fee is already set for January?

I still find it odd that we're going after Bale too.

I appreciate that having two quality players for each position is important, but do you really want us to spend circa £10m on 2 left backs?

Bale is capable of playing more advanced isn't he? We need a left winger too.
