Nottingham Forest prepare £1million swoop for midfielder

Nottingham Forest are lining up a £1million bid for Charlton midfielder Nicky Bailey.

Former Southend player Bailey, 25, bagged 13 goals for the Addicks in the Championship last term even though they went down.

Now Charlton are struggling to hold on to their best player as Middlesbrough are also big admirers.

But Boro must sell before they can buy and Forest, boosted by a summer cash injection from chairman Nigel Doughty, are set to pounce.

Unless Billy feels Google's injury might be a huge issue for our midfield, this is a very stupid move.

Apparently he was Charltons top scorer for last season - meaning we would have 4 Top Scorers at our club - Earnie, Blackstock and Adebola.

I can't see truth in this.

If it does happen though, there's always a song -

I'd be well happy with Nicky Bailey. If McGugan is out for 6 weeks and we lose another midfielder we'd be very thin in centre midfield, can't hurt to have some cover.

Contentious comment from me....... I think that much of our problems over the past 10 years or so are down to a lack of quality midfield players. Good ones help out in attack, help out in defence, don't give the ball away, don't let the opposition midfield thred any good balls through etc. Even a slightly shaky defence will look twice as good with an effective midfield. That's why I'd be pleased with a new midfield player and as soon as we get Cohen back to midfield the better. BTW isn't that Shelby (spelling?) still at Charlton?
