The free scoring academy player could be used tonight v the sheep I know he scores a lot of goals at academy level but is he ready for the 1st, the experience would be great for him but would somebody like Newbold be a better choice?

From what I understand, mate, they're both in the squad for tonight, and I'm guessing Rodney is there purely to make up the seven subs!

He may well get a game, and he'll be very eager to impress, I'm sure, but Newbold is likely to be used ahead of him, I reckon.

I've got his facebook account.

Might ask him later how he's preparing for it...

Hes already my favourite ever Forest player!!

Nah joking aside he does seem to be doing all the right things at youth level so why not give him the chance, im sure he would love to be involved in this match. Fair play to BD for putting him in the aquad if he does. I know its only because of injuries but atleast he is giving the youth a chance as some would say he would just ignore it.

He played in the FA Youth cup game last week (at least I think he did!)

If it is who I think it is, he looked rather lively, and a definite cut above his peers.

That said, the step up from the FA Youth cup game to tonight is going to be like getting off a pair of roller skates and into a Formula One car.

Lewis Hamilton managed it, and still had time left over to nob one of the Pussycat Dolls and arrange a house move to tax haven Switzerland.

What, easier?

At least you get to sit down in a Formula One car.

Rodney looks a little bit like Rooney - is this where the similarities end?

Dan, I thought you'd be on my side.

simple fact is, this kid looked half decent, but there's no way he'd be afforded the time to make the mistakes he was making last week. That's not an insult, every player on the pitch made mistakes. It's at that age where you begin to iron them out.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think it's far too soon for him to mix it with the adults.

Lets say we are winning 2-0 with 20 minutes to go and Rodney comes on and gets another 2 goals... what a headache Davies will have come Saturday.

I'll give you odds of 100-1 on that happening.

Delighted with this, Nialle is one of my best mates and you'll be interested to know he is Mcgugans cousin. He's got a lot of pace and a good eye for goal. I hope he plays and we batter Derby! YOU REDS!

Ignore my cheap anti Formula One jibe for the moment!

I do agree with you - there is only so far you can go on enthusiasm, which this guy will have. At least as a forward his mistakes, should he play and make any, can be rectified by the midfield and defence.

I think we can safely say that the youth team players on the bench will only be seen if
- we have further injuries
- we are getting stuffed
- we are stuffing Derby

It could very much work in our favour. Bring this lad on, he isn't scared of anything as he hasn't played at this level. Playing with no fear.

Just spoke to a mate in the academy whos seen the squad list, Rodney does not feature but Karl Darlow does again who is the young keeper. I'll give him a call later and see what the team is.
