New Stadium

In the hope of a new stadium, what would your preference be for it's name?

For me, the City Ground was always a fairly weak name that never did clearly identify the grounds to Nottingham or the club.

the city ground still, its tradition and i dont want to see it change

That's officially a fear, and not a hope.

It might not be the best name, but Forest made it famous. Now it is associated with Nottingham and Nottingham Forest.

we know it obviously. Should this club want to return to the glory days again it needs to not only generate income but provide the best possible customer experience, and that can only be done with a new stadium.

It will also help the club the attract new players.

I for one can only see benefits in moving to a new ground.

There is a cavaet, the ground has to be a unique design and not one of those faceless corporate retail units that the likes of Derby, `Boro, Leics, Sunderland and MK Dons have. It needs to be distinctive and NOT A BOWL.

I'm guessing someone else has been stockpiling land around the current ground.

The "so sterile it makes the old place look like a cauldron arena"

or..

The "I'm developing false memories of how fantastic the old place was, especially the old trent end" bowl.

the "we should have just rebuilt the main stand and knocked down the houses but we couldn't be bothered and we wanted to host world cup games even though it will not be held in england, but it doesn't matter because we didn't pay for it all" arena

I propose they paint the seats with faces on them - that way it won't look likes there's 30,000 empty seats every week

It could be sponsored by Faces nightclub and those little biscuits with faces on them and those little potato faces.

The "There's room in this forum City for more than one new stadium thread" Arena

The Doughty Bowl
Mark Arthur's Ring

The "We built this in the vain and pathetic hope of getting an England World Cup Game. Wasn't it worth pissing away all that heritage and history for Iran v Lithuania" Stadium.

A good idea would be:
The "Childline Unity Nottingham Total Football Leisure & Allied Pastimes' Stadium" ;)

But on reflection and consideration I can think of no better monicker than:

Doughty's Folly.

Should the name pay homage to Brian Clough and past acheivements or should it be respectful to the area it is sighted in?

Thoughts?

With our current lot in charge and their way of thinking:

The "We are trying not to remember our history and heritage, and to distance ourselves from - sorry what was his name - by any means necessary including building a new" Stadium.

Clough Gardens? Imagine how fantastic our stadium would look being set in beautifully manicured gardens?

I really think we could be very proud of something like that. Nobody wants a stadium sat in the middle of a retail park that could easily be mistaken for Comet!

Bay Arena?

Drop the `Laaady`bit though!

Can't have anything to do with Homes Pearrepontte as nobody can spell it, and The Holmed Peurgeotpont Stadium is a bit long!

In homage to Joe Kinnear:

'The You can't break wind without Garry Birtles moaning about doing it better in Cloughie's day stadium'

The "I remember when we were a bigger team than Notts County" Stadium.

No wonder my post count..
The "Steve Stone Dome" would do it for me.

Being serious for a moment...

It would be fantastic to have an indoor arena which a moveable pitch to the outside. The arena can then be truely multi-purpose?
