New Stadium

Due to our city being chosen as 'maybe' a host city for the World cup in 2018 i think we should offer ideas and pics of stadiums and ideas of what we would like to see our new home which in anyway will be built in the coming years World Cup or not.........

I have a feeling there will be threads for many years about this one so think it would be nice to keep em all in one place so we at least can pull ideas from different venues and itll all be in one place....

Ok brought this one up before

Toyota Stadium , 45,000 (our target) steep sides ,not a bowl so more traditional. but with a roof please!!!

I don't like that.

Something like this is what I think will be built. Enclosed, and a bowish theme but not too bad.

48,000

Bottom line, people:

Back in the days when it was £2 to get into Forest, and football was still a working-man's game, and one Brian Clough assembled a team that won Europe...not once, but (count 'em...) TWICE, we still couldn't sell 40,000 tickets for a game.

Can someone please explain to me (draw me a picture if necessary) where all the fans will materialise from so as to fill the 45+ thousand red plastic seats, (at £32+ per game) that will line the seating area that IS the MegaToilet as was last sold to me as the future of Forest.?

Oh - and if they build it and there isn't room for the big flag (above) then they can, on consideration, f*** right off.

how about instead of moaning about it, you actually post an idea or suggestion for what the new stadium will look like and what you want it to have.

lets keep this thread to just that and not the old we dont want a new stadium, argument. the bottom line is, we are going to have a new one anyway so lets be supportive now and positive and try to help make it a good one !! if people are not going to go because we moved from the city ground then thats stupid,

back to what the question asked, Im not to keen on very steep sides like some of the spanish grounds, but we don't want something thats to flat and small. I will have to have a look around at some grounds, but it's late and im off to bed !

It's a completely different game nowadays and it attracts different people. A shiny new stadium and Premiership status would see plenty of people turn up.

Just look at Hull and Stoke.

Just look at Hull and Stoke the wonderful way we can fill our current 30,000 seater to capacity, with 15,000 people crying in the street that they've missed out on a ticket...week-in, week-out for the last 5 10 15 20 40 60 80 years......

A new stadium WILL, of course, solve this. :1st: Completely, instantly and permanently.

How foolish of me for not realising this 5, 10, 15, 20, 40, 60 or even 80 years ago.

Dear Sir ,

After reading your bottomline, i can only remeber when it was five pounds to stand in the Trent End on a milk crate ,many times i had a disscusion with a short moutstached scouse looking guy with Donald Duck/ Forest tatoo on his arm about how i was glad to see the 'pens' to the left and right actually where getting full on that particular day, he too reminded me in those days how it would have been awesome to have a proper 'Kop'.

He actually said this over a program of the 'to be built Trent End'

Football will never be a working mans game ever!!!!!! (not again anyway) but it still doesnt mean Forest dont have the supporters.

and about the fans .....im not expecting to have 40k home fan base in Nottingham but FFS its possible, even if you have to offer, and work harder than kids for a quid !!!!!

and...........

my flags bigger than your flag............ but size dont mattter so if your flag wont fit ill take down mine! :p ;D

Stand on the North West end of Trent Bridge.

Today.

Look North-East.

That aspect will do me. Change the Main Stand to something suitable, job done.

It is somewhat difficult to be (in your words) "supportive and positive" about something over which I am so dead against.

Remind me why a £50 million stadium, for which we WILL pick up a significant portion of the bill WILL be a good thing?

Now you're just being obtuse.

You asked how we'd fill a 40,000 seater stadium.

I told you how a new stadium and success (Premiership) could help and gave you two examples.

So where are they, and WHY THE HELL IS IT REMOTELY SENSIBLE TO BUILD A 45,000 - 50,000 SEATER?????

We wouldn't have filled it when we were at the peak of our success....

See above. We won the First Division Title, Europe, bollox knows how much other silverware and we STILL couldn't fill the damn place.

I despair, I really do.

Im guessing by the 'bowl' shape is the one we will go for, as both artists' impressions over the past few years have been that way. If we were to get something like Eastlands, I would be delighted.

A question to all the people who spout the sentiment bollocks about the CG, would you stay in the same shitty house that you were born in for the whole of your life instead of moving into a brand new one, which was 100 times better in every way merely for 'sentimental reasons' and 'good memories'??

How will it be better?

Have you been to Coventry City's new stadium?

Villa won the European Cup and barely got 20,000 in at Villa Park. How much do they get nowadays? Double it.

Making comparison's with the late 70's/80's is futile in my opinion.

Fair enough.

Make comparisons with the 90s and the 2000s.

Why build a 45-50,000 seater?

Just to hop in here, stir things up, and then jump out again...

Coventry's new stadium hasn't been chosen :)

How could it be worse than a ground that has poor access, (takes half an hour for thousands of people to leave up a narrow road (path)), poor local amenities, shit facilities, and a main stand that is falling to bits - and in no uncertain terms will never be replaced. What has the CG actually got going for it??

No.

Still largely irrelevant, IMO but I'll play...

In 1997, Sunderland opened the Stadium of Light and despite relegation from the top tier, almost doubled their attendances in 2 years.

Careful now... They only tell you that the Main Stand "can't be replaced" in order to sell you the new stadium.

The current incarnation of the City Ground met/exceeded the standards and requirements for UEFA's Euro96 tournament...anf the FA are happy to stage the Women's FA Cup Final there...

Can't be that bad....officially...

Im not saying that it cant be replaced... the truth is however that it wont be, full stop.

What honestly has the CG got going for it? I honestly cant think of much I like about it. Parking around the ground is bad, as I said before getting out is a nightmare, the facilities inside the ground are awful - (Ive never been to a ground where you queue whilst the first half is still playing to get a beer, and you are lucky if you have finished it before the second half starts) the toilets are awful... I could go on. There is nothing I will miss about it.
