New signings are one of the best things about football

And when we don't get any, we're pissed off because we love it when we do get someone. And it's that simple. They're like three points or a cup tie or something, and we've got nowt this window. So we're fed up and rightly so.

As such I think the lack of incoming is best considered in about four weeks, when any loanees are in and we've seen how the injuries pan out. I'm sure we'll have something else to be pissed off about by then, so maybe we can see this in a less disheartened light.

I get excited about certain players.

Anderson, earnshaw etc.

Cant say i got excited when i heard the names dele adebola and rob jones.

I find the whole thing a little sad.

We don't need new players, we need new players that are of better quality than ones we have.

Therefore, I am not disappointed we have not yet signed anybody. We tried to get a couple of additions which would improve the squad, and as a lot of people thought, that turned out to be a hard thing to put into practice. Clubs just don't want to lose their good players. We wouldn't go and sell Cohen or McGugan to say QPR or Sheff Weds, unless we had to would we?

exactly, is rob jones miles better than breckin, morgan, wilson? NO

Is adebola better than garner, tyson, earnshaw? NO hes worse than all these.

That wasn't my point in the slightest...

I meant "improve the squad" as in Adebola, whilst maybe not as gifted as our current strikers, offers something different - more strength and presence, aerial ability. I think he's ok with his feet too.

I remember going to the first game after we'd got Will Hoskins in on loan last season. When he came on the cheer that went up was like we'd scored or something! In my opinion he turned out to be utter toss (injury or no-injury) so it wasn't his quality that was being cheered but rather the fact that we had got somebody.... ANYBODY in to bulk the squad out a little.

For Davies to say we need four or five players last week , then to bring in nobody I think the same will happen again. Loan in another tw@ in the mould of Joel Lynch and they'll get cheered just the same

We needed a winger as we only have two at the moment - one of which has raw talent, the other seemingly left it behind in Yeovil.
We needed a left back as what we have currently is less preferable to SHJ running around in armour.

It's not a case of just bringing in players for the sake of it, we've got a small squad with a couple of gaping holes. It's risky not to fill them.

I don't agree.

Kind regards,

Our squad is thin, we need additions to it, hopefully we will get some loan players in.

I can see you point, however we do need a 4th striker and someone who wouldn't be too shocked not to start every game when everyones fit ala Andy Cole. I think Adebola would have done a good job for us.

As for Jones, Hibs fans seem to love him, his manager seems desperate to keep him, and he is by all accounts a leader - something Forest are very much in need of.

I'll be very surprised if we don't get a winger on loan, along with a striker, and a left back. I think I'm dreaming now.

Come on you reds!

I know this may be old ground, but does anyone know how long Anderson is likely to be out? You do hear of players playing with 'soft casts' if they've got the 'right' sort of arm injury.

Precisely.

If it wasn't exciting getting a new player in, seeing the club spending big then no one would be bothered with this window and this window would most probably not even exist.

The reason it does exist is because it makes the whole thing all the more thrilling cramming a seasons full of transfer activity into 1 month is commercially beneficial to the FA, Premier League, Football League etc. etc.

GET RID OF IT!!!

Yes, that's what it's all about.

Yesterday the FA sold 248,000 "I Transfer Windows" shirts. A real earner.
