New LB + Cohen or Perch?

So whats your views on this if we don't and we probably wont secure a deal for a new LB (Shorey fingers crossed) or some of equal quality , do we use Cohen or Perch?

My personal opinion would be Cohen if we don't get a new LB, Perch for all his passion was completely out of it yesterday and was found wanting, Wilson had to cover for him most of the time perch just isn't goodenough "Fact" and if we have to use him for the remainder of the season i can only foresee a run of negative proportions back down the league.

Cohen would be a loss in midfield, but moussi (when fit ) can play there and not forgetting McGugan atleast in midfield we have options, but LB is a major problem.

Now i'm not trying to slag off Perch even though most people know my feelings on him, but you only have to read all the comments from all forum boards to see what people think, it's not just me. Perch is and never will be goodenough.

WTF are the Acquistion committee playing at is it going to be another false dawn in this transfer window, are we going to have to make do as usual. MA was quoted once saying"when in a position of power we will add to the squad" Well MA what do you call this?

Rant over

This is part of the reason I posted what I did on the "Transfer Panel" thread. The panel in my opinion at least seem to be having a laugh with derisory or crap bids for players that are quality, nothing wrong being linked with players of good calibre, in fact it's great but please don't give us reasons to doubt our ambition. We would never get away with this in the Prem, it's silly so when BD says we are not ready in terms of infrastructure he is probably right. If anything will hold us back at Forest it's this Panel, but we'll see!

I can't see that the 'panel' are doing anything wrong. They played a blinder in summer and got us some great players. January is the worst time to try to get players anyway. The best we could do (to avoid silly prices) is to get players in on loan. My only real disappointment is not having Shorey here at the moment, and that might change very soon. Moses was stuck in a complicated situation - his club is in deep do-do and they needed probably the whole fee at once. His agent would have pushed that kind of move to get his cut straight away! One thing is for certain - when we go up, it will be a whole new ball game - it will be much easier to entice players to the City Ground. BTW, Billy will be busting a gut to get the LB situation put right.

If we dont sign anyone before Monday then I could see Perch having a run in the left back slot. If it were up to me I'd give Lynch a shot because the guys barely had a chance to prove himself this season

If Perch performed as badly as he had been suggested on here in the match against derby , i don't imagine Billy will play him there again.

A few weeks ago didnt billy play gunter at LB and perch at RB?

I thought it was odd but, of course, billy was proved right again.

Was is just me or was Joel Lynch playing really well before he got injured/Shorey came in?? He may not be what we want but surely more of a round peg than square?

I really hope Perch never plays at left back again. His positional sense and defending were terrible yesterday and he makes me nervous every time he gets the ball/ someone runs at him. Someone made the point earlier that he is agood tacler but that these tackles are generally made because he loses the ball in the first place.

I think that Billy generally see's when a player clearly can't play in a position and will adjust accordingly. Lynch was playing well(ish) just before he was replaced by Cohen, and in turn Cohen started to improve A LOT in the final few games before we signed Shorey.

Hope we get another LB in but if we don't then Lynch or Cohen over Perch at LB for me.

JOEL LYNCH???? towards the end of last season he looked really good, powerful, strong, bursting forward, swooping crosses. However when ive seen him this season at left back, especially at Sheff Wed away, he was absoloutly SH*T. He seems to have no confidence, positional sense or abilty on the ball, it would be too big a risk to put lynch in the side, id stick with perch for the sheff wed game if we dont sign a new left back by monday. But what has happened to Bennett, im sure he was supposed to be back for the new year at the latest? i think hes dead, not seen him in arnold town centre for an age.

We are in a position of strength and we need to be looking forward, Perch , lynch are a couple of stepps backwards in my opinion but Unfortunatlely we will have to endure more dissapointment regards signing new players, just get ready for the verbal shit coming our way after the transfer window closes

Personally if I was BD I would be on the phone to Newcastle tomorrow telling them to stump up £1m for Perch with a clause written into the contract that says they can only play him at LFB.

The two best options are either to put Perch at right back and Gunter left-back, both looked comfortable in that position against Birmingham. Or put Cohen at left-back giving Tyson another route back into the side.

I would prefer the latter but I expect BD to continue with Perch at left-back.
