New Forest Ground

If England win the hosting rights to the World Cup next year, then there's a fair chance, but untill then I think were all just in the dark as much as you.

Hope not.

I Love the City Ground, and dont think we'd fill a 50,000 seater just yet!! :(

All that needs doing is the Main Stand, make that similar (or the same) as the Brian Clough stand and that will surely be all we will ever need... ever!

I hope we dont build one of those horrible plastic stadiums that will end up looking exactly the same as every other newly built stadium.

We're fine where we are :)

City Ground is a great ground, a bit of work on the Main Stand, and we would have a better ground.

Yeah , new main stand (make it same as brian clough stand) , then fill the corners either side of the trent end & i guess it would be around a 45k seater stadium, better than a new plastic (pride park ) stadium !

Fill in a corner or 2. Get one of them big screens in and renovate inside the stands, hey presto. I reckon you could up the capacity to around 40 - 45k with a new main stand, and added corners tbh !

Corners = airflow from Trent = nice pitch.

So don't damn well fill them in, thankyousoverymuch.

I didn't mean all of them. Just a couple. maybe even build the bridgeford stand up (if them pesky neighbours have moved)

Well there's really only two corners left open.

So if you want to fill in a couple, that's all of the remaining ones :p

I love the city ground and think Its one of the best looking stadiums in the u.k in terms of its loaction the trent end looks amazing when its cuaght at the right angle on a summers day with the reflection of the trent coming off its windows, it also used to look amazing on night games when they lit all those windows up when it was first built. Id like to see the mainstand built in that style.

There's only one filled in isnt there ? The bridgeford and Cloughie !

I'd like to see the main stand given a similar look to the trent too. Not joined there, but just similar looking lines all the way ! I have a funny feeling that the council really want that land badly though !

With regards to filling in the Trent End corners it will never happen. I did a bit of work experience at an architects who submitted designs for the new Bridgeford & Trent End stands. Due to the river being so close to the ground, the stand needed the goal shape frame to support the roof on the Trent End. There isn't enough space either side of the stand to add corners and extend the goal frame support out. It would mean no access to the back of the Clough Stand from the path that runs along the Trent, and on the other side it would have been a similar story as there are buildings close by. Also,, the open corners at the Trent End are the only parts of the ground where Emergency Vehicles can access the inside of the stadium if needed as the Lower Bridgeford extends round to far towards the Main Stand to allow access to the pitch that way.

Apologies for the boring information! :)

It was just a front to try and take the fans mind off the fact we were in league one.

It was never going to happen, all spin.

Maybe we could add a nice floral arrangement then ? To brighten up the poor games we can have flower shows !

You lost me after the first three words.

Everyone knows that the new ground will be at Holme Pierrepont, overlooking the slalom course. Most of our games will take place underwater. These fish puns are not jokes, they are our future squad list.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again. The only true way to develop the CG would be to buy all those house back of the Bridgford (look no e!!! ::) ) and Main Stand corner, bull-doze them to allow a walk-way around the outside from Main stand car park to colwick road. Finish off the Upper Bridgford with another corner (similar to the ex-cap one which can temp house the A-Blockers). When thats done demolish the main stand and rebuild a 2-tier that joins on the Bridgford. In theory this should give us a 40,000 seater stadium in the same location AND solve the Police issue about access/exit to any new Main stand being restricted to the existing gate.

ideally they'd also demolish the old jubilee club or whatever its called now to allow access to the Trent tow-path as well.

Personally I hope we never ever leave the fantastic location we have.
But if we do, it will be about financial incentives to do so and transport infrastructure.

Winnits loves this letting air to the pitch thing. Yes - it used to be a problem in lots of grounds BUT - many stadia are completely closed in and their pitches are excellent eg ManU, Scouse, Spurs, Arsenal etc. Some are completely exposed to the air eg Blackpool and are completely sh-te. Depends on your budget for keeping the pitch nice.
Interesting from Eddie - it is always possible to find solutions for problems. That is what design and technology is all about. If we have the will to fill in the TE corners, I'm POSITIVE it could be done. Just maybe the roof would have to be re-designed - cheaper than moving grounds AND we could stay at the best location in league football.

It can certainly be done,, at the time there was a budget to adhere to as well as the council putting their views across,, but as you say it would certainly be much cheaper than building a new ground! I personally think we should do it if we stay at the CG, but the local council seem determined to block the clubs progress with any re-development,, im not sure why they dont support the club and help it to move forwards.
