NEW Fixture List 2025/2026 - Premier League

Note these are due for release on Wednesday morning. Haven't seen much in the way of discussion/leaks.

Aside from the usual frustrations around the inevitable plethora of date changes, what are people's thoughts?

Personally I'd like to see concentration of games against stronger opposition immediately after the (potential) European dates/games. Stuff that we'd be able to get up for avoiding any 'after the Lord Mayor's show' vibes against the teams we should be picking up points against.

Why don't they give the fixture list to Sky, embargoed, the day before release, and let Sky pick the first 2 months' live games, and then release the fixture list publicly, which, magically, won't need any alterations making for a couple of months?

The new teams will be mostly away to the "big boys" in the first 5-6 games so as to demoralise them early and attempt to ensure the status quo in the Premier League.

Some teams will be at home first day AND last day of the season - this should be one of the easiest things to guard against.

I wonder how many clashes with Notts County’s home games there will be?

I think the EFL fixtures are released at a later date.

Liverpool will kick the season off on the Friday night, at home to Leeds.

We will be away first game, and my guess is Arsenal.

Not won the first match since promotion.

Quick AI assistant check results in the following:

Nottingham Forest last won their opening match of the season in the 1998/99 season, where they beat Coventry 3-0.

Is that really the case, or that's just for Premier league seasons?

The Coventry game was the first game of the 96/97 season when Kevin Campbell scored a hat-trick but we still ended up being relegated (it WAS the last time we won on the opening day in the Premier League-but not
98/99).

The first game of 98/99 was a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal and we were relegated again!

Message-don’t rely on AI (my own memory is better than that load of cobblers).

2 months ago I put £20 on Forest being away at Everton's new ground on first day of the season. Just had the feeling for a long time. We shall see

Too right!

I had to ask the same question multiple times just in case it got the wrong end of the stick. Looks like it got the wrong stick all together. Good help us if/when AI takes over the world.

Boxing Day will be home vs Leeds. We’ll win 4-2 and Nuno will be sacked

Everton away on the first day would bring back happy memories of a certain Mr Clough standing on the touch line with hands held high and look what a season followed 😊

This same list has the last few games too, and in there we aren't playing the last weekend of the season. We have been replaced by Leicester for the last game of the season.

We also have to go to Anfield twice, which seems a little unfair 😄
