NEP: No Loan Signings

Did I read that right on the NEP board outside the Newsagents? Can't see any mention of it on http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk (although Notts are on there signing a shit load more players just to rub it in).

Oh well, it does say Earnie wants to sign a new deal ...

If you go down the table, right down to Doncaster in 15th, who (like us) are on 19 points, meaning seven points of third place.

Yes there's a small gap at the top, but QPR and Cheatdiff City will drop points between now and the end of the season. We've lost 3 times in 14 games, yes maybe drawing a few too many, but a point is better than none (and three are better than one, of course).

To count anyone out at this point is wrong; even bottom-of-the-table Palace are only 11 points off a playoff place!

I remember thinking that about Newcastle and West Brom last season ... they didn't. Not that it mattered, because we didn't pick up any points away anyway ...

QPR have already started dropping points; they are stealing our draw specialist title. Sort it out forest, lol

This squad wasnt good enough to go up last year or this..... Its a shame our owner has so little ambition.

Excellent stance from the manager. Billy wants permanent signings, no more falling back on loanee's

I wonder if hes avoiding spending money on loan fee's/wages with the intention of using that money to finance some permanent deals?

Blackpool got promoted on loan signings, they cant be all that bad.

The problem is then, they go back to their respective clubs and you are left with half of the team that got you promoted. Hence having to build a new team yet again.

Not sure what Billy is going on about with regards to not wanting loans unless they are exceptional and will now wait till January.

IMO that is him playing politics with the owners and in response to ND saying that Billy can have more freedom in the transfer market - and certainly nothing to do with a takeover.

BUT

There nothing stopping us (well apart from the unambitious tight owner and the poltics playing manager) in getting in a player in on loan now but in all actuality it is a permanent deal which is made official on Jan 1st ...just like we did with Tyson and other clubs have done. In fact Liam Lawrence who would have been an exceptional signing at this level. (not hindsight talking as I said it in the rumours forum before he moved) at Portsmouth is that type of deal!!

Not sure at this level many better signings than Andy Reid, if he was something more exceptional then would they really be available??

So its just more excuses, more politics and while we wait for the exceptional signing we can no doubt NOT afford anyway we continue to tread water in mid table..

Come January we may not be in the position (in the league) to attract stellar signings, and can guess that will be an excuse used then... we have heard them all before!!

Blackpool seem to be doing OK

Gunter, Blackstock, Camp. All liked it here so much they stayed.

so that means we should not sign anymore players on loan?

his politics are we have the funds, we need permanent signings- i'll buy that

Not quite what I meant but to quote someone clever.

"so much politics when Billy involved, life never simple - biggest flaw of otherwise v good manager"

I think Billy would like to bring some loan signings in but is also willing to cut his nose off to spite his face to get his way. That just my opinion.

In my opinion, the club is not being managed properly. Should have struck while the iron was hot in the Summer with permanent deals for Pratley and Whittingham. I thought the club would at least make some effort in the loan market, but no we let our rivals snap up the best players again.

Who will want to join Forest in January when we are still mid-table?

The sad thing is Doughty knows this. It was treated as blasphemy when, earlier this season, I said our great Chairman has made poor business decisions...well now he's even admitted it himself. Don't get me wrong, I like Doughty and I think he means well. Shame he's not very good at running a football club though.
