Attracting a lot of interest to the surprise of no one. Definitely not someone I'd want us to be selling next season.

Doesn't seem like 5 minutes, when some were bitching about paying £17m for him !!
To be fair, that first season he was utter shite mainly, but then he hadn't played much for Liverpool and really only half a season on loan to Fulham was all of the first team experience he had. It's clear since then he's worked on improving his game.

I don't think we planned on getting Aurier but at one point Neco was behind Aurier, Montiel and Aina at RB and obviously we had Lodi and Toffolo at LB, but he seems to be a decent enough LB despite being right footed which is annoying when both him and CHO have to turn back when attacking...

I don’t think it’s a case of ‘testing our resolve’. Daniel Levy knows all about our resolve. It will all come down to what division we are in, if we are in the Champions League (not impossible), remaining contract and the player’s wishes. Same goes for Anderson, MGW, Murillo, Milenkovic, Sangare, Sels, Aina, and any other players in demand from other clubs. We (probably) only need to make one big sale to balance the books. After that, it’s down to what the Big Man wants to do. At the end of the day, we always win.

As long as Neco is happy I’m pretty confident hell stay. I think Anderson and Murillo will go and we won’t need to sell anyone else. He’s contracted untill 2029 and we can’t afford to lose anyone else.

If we stay up then i'm sure he'll stay no matter what.

He'll still have 3 years left on his contract when the season finishes so even if the worst happens, i can't see him going for anything less than what EM thinks he's worth and i'd guess he'd value him at around the £30m mark absolute minimum.

As with most of our players, it really depends what division we are in next season, whether they remain with us or not. And I don't see a single one agitating to leave right now, including the 'big hitters'.

I think we have a good chance to keep most of our squad together next season without anyone pushing to leave. I think it will be easy to convince the more ambitious players that this season was a mess, unplanned and won't happen again going forward. However if next season we're fighting at the bottom again, nowhere near Europe I can see players then wanting out. Players like Neco have that taste of European football now and if they have interest from teams more likely to have it than us. They'll want to go.

I'd argue that describing him as "utter shite" in his first season is pretty harsh Stat.

Transfer Market has his value of £25mil - Would not sell him at that price - he has a contract with us until 2029 so unless totally stupid money comes in, I hope he stays with us for a while longer.
As everyone has said, he is Mr Consistant - he is too important to let go.

This is clearly an agent paid tweet by the way. It's not the first time Fabrizio has talked about Neco Williams completely out of the blue.

Like that other bloke posting about Netz the other day.

If it’s from the club it’s ’let’s see if someone will offer daft money’ and if it’s from the player side it’s a ‘I’m open to offers’.

Disagree.

I can think of several occasions where he was easily skinned by wingers repeatedly in his first season. Even Gnonto who was still a kid had the beating of him pretty much every time he went forwards. I think Koleosho did as well, though not sure that was the first season. The amount of deliveries we let go through from that side because he didn't really know what to do contributed no doubt to chances and goals against us, though the low block did keep a lot of things out.

There wasn't a massive amount of evidence which suggested we would end up with the Neco we have these days

I did some fag packet estimations of our players on here a few weeks ago and had Neco down as £25M too although I'd gone on the conservative side. At a push we might get £30M for him.

Full backs don't tend to go for much more than that and the ones that do are more of a world class wing back.

We'll just have to agree to disagree then because "utter shite" is way over-the-top in my opinion.

Then we're best off keeping him.

Neco is another one of those, who, if you arrived home and found him in bed with your SO, you'd tuck him in, leave him to it, and pop downstairs and stick the kettle on for a cuppa.

Absolutely love the lad, he's blossomed into a superb footballer, consistent performer every week, leads by example, never lets the side down, and - in the words of my wife - "well, he's a bit handsome, isn't he?"

Bah.
