Nathan - your sense of judgement is good and I'm sure the apology will be well received.

But........XAVIER HENDRIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dunno about that, if was going to apologise he should have done it much sooner.

It looks a bit like "I can't get away with this so I'd better apologise and hope for the best". It might get him more lenient treatment but I wouldn't be surprised if he got a ban.

I think the timing might be explained by the fact that he's had much more important family-related things on his mind recently.

I think he's done the right thing, although it does sound a bit like a naughty kid who's bright enough to have learnt that if you say sorry you'll get a lighter punishment. I remember saying 'that's a bit silly' when he did it. It was silly, and probably naive, but certainly not malicious and, in the event, only provocative to the D***y players. I don't remember any signs of outrage among the mutton-molesting fans.

Also, it gives Nathan the moral high ground and makes Savage look even more of a whingeing cheat, if such a thing is possible.

From Sky website:

Nottingham Forest striker Nathan Tyson is set to plead guilty to an FA charge of improper conduct following his actions against Derby County.

The Reds ace celebrated a 3-2 victory for Forest over their arch-rivals last month by carrying a corner flag in front of the away support.

There were home fans in the upper tier of the stand in question, but Tyson's actions were regarded as inflammatory.

An unsightly melee involving players from both sides quickly unfolded, marring what had been a keenly-fought contest between two old adversaries.

Tyson admits his antics on the final whistle were misjudged and is fully prepared to face the consequences.

Embarrassed

"I've had a long time to reflect on my actions and I intend to write to the FA and apologise," he told Forest's official website.

"It wasn't the best thing to do and I'm embarrassed about it all.

"I shouldn't have done it. I realise that now and I would like to apologise to anyone who I offended and anyone who may have been hurt.

"I'm a better person than that. I'm a man and I know when I've made mistakes.

"I'll learn from it and definitely won't be doing anything like that again."

Why is it now that the media finally portrays the event's exactly as they were? Not once before had I heard the comment from the media 'there were home fans in the upper tier of the stand in question'.

Its almost as crazy as Kay Cutts.

Nathan certainly has bollocks, unlike the blond mutton tosser. Never get an apology from him! The whole flag thing was worth it as it clearly got right up the 'tossers' nose. Thanks for that 'Tys'

Well what he did was not as bad as Adebayor lets hope the FA have that fresh on their minds.

I still don't think he has anything to apologise for, but if it makes the pen-pushers at FA HQ treat him more favourably then good move.

Agreed, I imagine recently becoming a father again has put it all into perspective too.

It is obviously tactical and would have been done in conjunction with BD. Tys has a good record and being contrite will help. If it were Savage it would be treated with scepticism.

When I've done something bad, I have the common courtesy to apologise but it doesn't always mean that I mean it. :hey:

Not according to Mark Hughes, he said after the match: "He knows he shouldn't have done it. But I'm not sure how close he ran towards the Arsenal fans. It is not as if he jumped into them. He was still on the field of play. He wasn't waving flags provocatively". What a winker.
