Seeing this reminds me that I happened upon the Kilimanjaro expedition sketch in Monty Python‘s film when I was channel-hopping last night. Seems appropriate to pop it in here:
Ive not seen that sketch for years one of the better ones monty python was weird some was genius other stuff was utter w**k

Hopefully that twat on FFTV will shut the f*** up about him wanting to engineer his way out.

Unsurprisingly, he is full of shit.
You mean the AFTV guy wearing FFTV 'clothing' ;)

Because he’s just signed a contract extension and said “This is my second renewal with the Club and I’m feeling so happy. It’s a dream and it’s really important for me, my family and my career. It shows me how important I am for the Club and that people have confidence in me.”

Now, I’m not naive to believe all the positive PR that comes out the club, but at the same time not everything is a conspiracy either and it’s reasonable enough to take some things at face value unless given good reason to think otherwise.
I am not saying otherwise, however you add a few extra years to any contract..it would increase their values in resale values...this is not a conspiracy.

Feels like a new fecking signing! Brilliant news. Love when EM is in this mood. More owners than not in our position would be cashing in on crown jewels.

Wow, wasn’t expecting that, excellent news and well done Forest :)

Thats exactly how I was hoping things would go this Summer, no great drawn out signing / departing stories that last for way too long, just press releases stating we have signed/ sold player X.
Liking the style so far.

Seems like VP may have changed the mood and got the team believing in themselves again and wanting to stay.

Sure and we may yet sell him if the right deal comes along for him and for Forest. It still doesn’t mean wants to leave or is looking for a way out or whatever. On the face of it he’s happy to line up for us next season and there’s nothing tangible to suggest otherwise. Quite the opposite in fact.

Random thoughts. My grandaughter bought me a Forest Calendar for Christmas. Apart from the fact her boyfriend supports Norwich, I wasn't aware she had much interest in football, but apparently all this time she has harboured a secret crush on Murillo and bought the calendar for me because Murillo is on the cover!

I also think that EM might be our owner with a great business and great wealth and a very successful Greek club into the bargain, but, judging from interviews I have seen, he is a passionate fan, too, and will do all in his power to see the clubs prosper. He's never going to get it all right, because part of being a fan, is being a bit one-eyed about the clubs and thinking some things are a good idea when they really aren't. But he always tries to correct his mistakes.

One good idea is trying to keep some or most of our stars at the club despite the vultures circling. Hence Murillo signing.

He wouldn't be the first to sign a new contract and then be sold not long after (or in the case of managers leave or be sacked).

it does show intent though, and that's from both sides - that the club want to keep Murillo on their terms (he may have release fees etc which they are changing) and that the player doesn't at this stage intend to leave the club, though I think it's apparent enough that the club wouldn't be able to turn down the right amount if it did come in.

It would be remarkable if we could keep him, Ando and MGW going into next season and meet whatever selling obligations we have by selling other players.

I love watching Murillo play. I hope we get to watch him for many more years to come. I can't think of a more skillfull player to wear the garibaldi.

In an era of overly drilled footballers, who stick rigidly to tactics and formations, and have any sense of individuality or character driven out of them - he's a rare reminder of how fun football can be.

Great news as he's been a key part of a very good Premier League defence and complements Milenkovic beautifully. He'll have to put in a better season next year though as Jair is hot on his heels to displace him. Pereira has done well to calm the mayhem and I don't think this extension happens without him.

With the CBs and LB locked down plus subs in those positions a new RB shouldn't cause too much disruption to the back line.

A very crucial move by us. For starters, it signals to the others that he will be here next year, and for players like Neco, Elliot, MGW etc that might help them decide to stay. If we keep all four of these guys then Vitor is a wizard.

I don't think we'll buy any new defenders.

I think we might even sell Morato if there's a decent offer and have Bindon/Abbott as 4th choice CB.

RB: Aina / Savona
RCB: Milenkovic / Cunha
LCB: Murillo / Bindon
LB: Williams / Netz

Only argument for another defender is if we want to go 3 at the back, but Savona could play RCB if one of Milenkovic, Cunha or Murillo wasn't available.

Savona looked like Cunha defensively before his injury. 2 CBs playing a position that is far too dynamic for them. Aina can't be relied upon to stay fit and should have proper competition next season for when he gets injured again. We may get away with injuries with having no Europa, but the lack of balance without a dynamic RB has given us plenty of evidence this season to underpin how high on the priority list a new RB should be.

Agreed. A new full back of one persuasion or the other should be a priority to avoid having to put Jair or Savona there.

Honestly I would sell a centre back. Ideally that would be Morato but that leaves us overly right footed in the middle it if leaves us with Milenkovic, Jair and Savona along with Murillo. I actually think we'll end up keeping Morato, unless a sale as part of a wider set of moves allows us somehow to keep Anderson financially, though my preference would be to sell Morato and Savona and bring in a new full back and new left footed centre back for the sake of balance.

That said, I also think it's entirely possible we make no changes to our defensive corps at all.

Think that's a little harsh on Savona given he took up decent attacking positions before his injury, got a couple of goals as well didn't he?

Clearly not an out and out right back but like you say, no Europa makes a difference. Williams could always shift over too with Netz coming in.

I'm not against a new full back coming in just don't think it's priority, and if it happens then one of Aina (hasn't looked fit in a while) or Savona (not a natural full back) needs to go out the door in order as to not bloat the squad when we need to be trimming.

Might be wrong but from memory Savona played more like a wing back, and a very good one, got a couple of goals too. Did we ever play him at CB?
i've posted elsewhere I think the right is covered but we need a top level left back this summer*

*which might be bollocks seeing as Williams won player of the season playing left back, but it depends what system we play, remember Williams natural position when he came here was RWB
