As we near the end of the season, people will invariably give titles, such as biggest transfer flop to certain players plying their trade in the CCC.

I can't help but think that, even though I love the guy, Moussi has not (yet) lived up to the hype that arose when he joined us from Angers SCO.

So, is he a transfer flop? Do you think hes actually had a good season considering the switch across the channel? Do you think he can only really be judged next season when he will be fully fit and hopefully free from injury?

If not Moose, who else could be the CCC's transfer flop?

For one, he's not had a decent run of games and two he's not had a chance to get back to match fitness in the second half of the season. Not to mention he's new to the English game.

He has the tools to be a very good player though.

if we had paid £2 mil and not £200k then people would be moaning. He's not been fit so too early to judge if he is any good or not.

Started incredibly - dropped a bit in form, then got injured for most of the season - came back and showed signs of talent, as well and some poor games.

Judge next season is simply the answer.

I'm confident he will shine for us next season. Unfair to judge really when we have rarely had him fully fit this season.

We only paid 200k for him and most of the Hype was rather perpetuated by ourselves claiming The Moose was the only man who could kill Keyser Soze.

He's looked good when fit so hopefully a decent pre-season under his belt and we'll have a class act on our hands.

Weird thing is, I remember that opening day against Reading very well. He was already well on his way to cult status back then... somehow. He did play well in that match, and he knocked a Reading player out with a shot, so the hype carried on.

When we played Sunderland in the Carling Cup... we were 1-0 up with about 85 minutes gone.
It was Moussi who totally screwed up a clearance which led to the equaliser being scored. I thought the hype machine would stop after that but it didn't.

What hype? The 'hype' which you speak of came from the fact that he's big, black, french and has a funny surname. Nothing at all to do with his ability or stature as a Footballer. It's not like other clubs were thinking 'f***ing hell, Forest have signed Guy Moussi!!!'

Put it into context. We signed an unknown bloke for about £200k from some 2nd division French side. He started pretty well then got a horrible injury. He's showed some potential in some games and if he can get fit over the summer, he might turn out to be a super bit of business. If not then it's no big loss.

I disagree, the main hype came after pre-season when he was outstanding in all his games. Then agaisnt Reading. Thats what the hype was about.

I think people are confusing hype with banter................

The precise reasons people love him!! We have virtually no foreign players, Moussi being the exception and so he sticks out, that added with knocking Ibrahim Sonko out with a shot, and hes gonna get his name shouted from the stands.

I think he needs to have an injury free season next year and put in some good performances to be rated highly from a footballing point of view.

If you judge him from this season then he was almost a bad piece of business. The jury is still out!

he's got what we need for the midle of the park, I hope he can get fit

No wonder my post count..
It sounds to me as people praise Moussi for what Wes Morgan can do better.

no he hasnt.

hes been injured most of the season and when he has played he has just returned and gets injured again.

anyone who votes yes should just go to hell.

So why do you love the guy?

Honestly, the amount of nonsense spouted about Moussi on this forum since he signed...

Really don't know how a player achieves cult status in an injury riddled debut season... likewise I don;t know how he can be a flop or otherwise.... sorry, but reality check needed

If Guy Moussi changed his name to James Perch he would have been the worst signing ever and would be hammered on this forum every bloody day.

cant judge him as not been fit enough and he will need a run of games.

but me personally i did like what i saw of him.

Nobody can say he is a flop because he has been injured most of the season.

You really need to give him more time. Been out too long this season to judge

Moussi has been overhyped , through no fault of his own. It's our own fanbase that got a bit too rabid , all because he looked like a big black brusier.

When he's fit , Moussi has shown touches of class and there's no doubt in my mind that with a good pre-season under his belt , he'll prove himself next season. This season , he has been very unfortunate with injuries.

He's not a purely defensive midfielder though , he's more of a box to box player and at 300k , i believe he's still a snip.

I would argue the opposite. He is one of the best bargins in the league. Overhyped or not, in his 1st few appearences he looked a different class. He has been hampered by injury and form.

Being in a strange country with no family or friends can't be nice (he said when he was injured he just stayed in all day with nothing to do).

When your in a strange country and you don't speak the language you can't even watch the tv or go to the supermarket.

Now he has grasped the language it will help him fit in with the rest of the dressing room and when he is fully fit and free of injury we will see the player he was when he first arrived in that Sunderland friendly and the Reading game.

A player with his of ability for 300k is a bargin. Even if he hasn't done it this season.

Strong, good touch, classy and assured on the ball. Add to that young and cheap; then there can be little doubt he is a good buy!

My only critisism is he won't tackle, he'll close down and put his heft between man and ball but he won't fly in and win it - it's not his game. But I've been impressed so far and still don't think we've seen the best of him. He was starting to adjust to the pace of the game when the sheer number of games he was playing seemed to wear him down. Then he got injured!

But there were a few this year on a steep learning curve: Moussi, Cohen, McGugan, Garner, McCleary, Morgan, Tyson, Lynch have all come through it and look much much better players.

I can see Wilson leaving and Smith becoming 2nd choice until he sorts himself out.

Maloney, Heath and Thornhill have shown promise but don't look like getting the games under Davies.

I refuse to judge Chambers until he's had a run of games at centre back, but he's certainly no Championship right-back. Bennett hasn't played. Aaron Davies hasn't played (but then he never even looked like a League 1 player to me).

So despite what's been said about a clear out in the summer I don't see that many leaving. Probably a few of the youngsters that Davies doesn't rate and Wilson, maybe Chambers, probably Breckin, probably Aaron Davies.

Its not like we've got a massive squad that needs trimming. More likely Perch, McCleary, Lynch etc won't play many games compared to this year.

He'll hopefully bring in Blackstock plus another striker/winger, some experience in central midfield and a new back line bar Morgan (plus a first choice goalie).
