Just negotiations, I would rather us drive a hard bargain that throw money around. If we lose out on one or two because of it then so be it.

We did the same last year and things worked out okay.

I can still see this deal getting done because the demands aren’t crazy for him.

I hope the issues can get rectified. 10M seems cheap to me, it’s easy to say when it’s not your cash though.

Just standard negotiations. We might not land him but Mainz aren't going to not talk to us if we come back with a better offer because they were upset at the first.

Anybody still thinks we come in with a better bid and Mainz start wanting to talk to us again?

It’s normal negotiations-but we get little snippets from ‘sources’ which angles it a certain way. In days gone by we wouldn’t get the blow by blow info, just an update in Nottm evening post or radio that’s it’s off or he’s signed!

It's fun reading all these different chaps 'in the know', but I'm content to hear from the chaps really in the know, like our team doing the negotiating.

I guess it's not over 'til it's over,; it isn't over when one journo says it's over. It might be, but do we trust these 'experts'?

Since now we have a structure in place and a general strategy for the transfer window there will be a maximum price we're willing to pay, very unlikely we've submitted anything more than a probing bid so far to gauge the waters

If we submit our 'final offer' and they still aren't interested then we'll stick to the strategy and move on, there will be some targets we might be willing to deviate and pay a little extra for but i'm not sure it will be a CB. We certainly won't be getting ripped off by anyone

The Athletic say they expect him to sign, and we identified him as the fastest defender in the Bundesliga.
I just get this image in my head of Scott McKenna on a moped trying to catch him..

Depends how they are measuring it.

A lot of players are very quick over 10 yards but wouldn't beat a lot of players over 50 yards.

Matty Cash is the best example of that, he has never been rapid but he has such quick acceleration speed that few can do him for pace.
The Bundesliga measures „sprints“, using telemetry from those sports-bra things the players wear. So, typically, it is over short distances, like maybe ten meters or thereabouts.

The data is then mangled in the AWS cloud in real-time and then used as part of the in-Game commentary/statistics.

This is why you see Stuttgart’s Dinos Mavropanos on the List; he led the Bundesliga in blocks with 84 last season, many of which were him storming short distances out of defence to block a shot.

No way McKenna drops to the bench. The most consistent of the 3 by a mile last season.

I wouldn’t be so sure, looking at the quality of our transfer targets this summer….

I agree McKenna was brilliant last year, but it’s a whole different level this year, and pace will be even more important, especially down the sides where our wider centre-halves play.

Niakhate has clearly been targeted at least in part due to his pace.

Arguably if Forest are going to stick to a back three, they’ll need at least five or six men who can fill in at centre back.

Whoever doesn’t get a start initially will still see plenty of football (I think McKenna will be one of the „three“, but there you go).

Never going to happen.

Player of the season and absolute colossus. McKenna will make the step up.
