Moussa Niakhaté

I genuinely just think people don't have a good grasp on what players can sell for. There has never been any logic in the amount Premier League players go for.

Let's not forget MGW, where most people thought we were insane paying what we did including a lot of our supporters. Again you look at the Anderson thread & people saying he's not worth more than £10m. It would be a valid viewpoint if it were 2010.
Young English talent has always came at a premium, Anderson is definitely worth more than £10m but £35m is still an inflated price, presumably structured to our benefit

The inflated price of Niakhate is more surprising to me, good player and nothing bad to say about him but he's 28 years old and couldn't play himself into one of the weakest defences in the PL. Suddenly Lyon are interested for ~£25m, no offence to Lyon but they're not the type of club you'd expect to start throwing this type of money around for this type of player

Anyone sent the Lyon fans the footage on him as a left back trying to mark Leon Bailey at Villa yet? :D

Still a bit uneasy on the PSR front until Lyon announce the Niakhate and Mangala signings.

Just a thought, but with that Niakhate fee looking a bit toppy and an apparent Forest interest in Lyon’s Jake O’Brien, I wonder if there is another bit of PSR back scratching going on.

Especially as Palace have a big sell on fee and they have the same owner as Lyon. More money for Lyon and Palace, and a big profit on O’Brien, and a big profit on Moussa for our PSR.

Or maybe Lyon are just what we are to Newcastle

Absolutely Eddie. They binned-off Frank and then watched on as he won a European Cup Winners medal 4-years later, and they're still waiting to lift a major trophy 55-years since their last.

Frank Clark is a great bloke, he did a book signing / evening with at Bingham Town just before covid & he was an absolute gent

He's still got the hump though about Forest's fans behaviour that day at Peterborough, I didn't dare tell him I was on the pitch that day

I spent an evening in the company of 15 of the Miracle Men last year, including Frank, and he was cracking company. Had a really good chat with him about winning the European Cup, him managing Forest, Collymore and all sorts.

He’s a blood good bloke is Frank.

Of course in those far off days, the main TV football was the FA Cup Final. Watching Wor Jackie score in the first minute and go on to win, we just wouldn't have believed that they would not win another major honour in the succeeding years.

That was another of those finals before subs were allowed so Man City played most of the game with 10 men.

It wasn't until 1974 that I appreciated that club's barren run Richard, and long may it continue.

If I were the PL watching all these clubs take the piss out of the PSR rules, I'd push back on clubs retrospectively registering player sales like we're presumably going to be doing here.

I think we'll see a lot of arguing about what the Premier League and what the clubs deem as "good faith".
