I honestly think he’ll wait another year or that’s what I’m hoping anyway. He’s supposedly a United fan and in 12 months time Bruno will have a year left on his deal. That move wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest. I just can’t see a world where we sell both Anderson and MGW this summer.

We won't be parting with both Anderson and MGW and with the former being the overwhelming favourite to be sold I'm not worried about Morgan leaving

And even in the unlikely event he does it definitely won't be for Spurs

The spurs itk's are still posting shit about MGW but they've dropped using the independent journalist who never posted anything and are now all sourcing some random spurs fan with 20k followers who just posts unsourced crap. So yeah I'm not worried he's going to spurs, lets put it that way.

Tuchel is a stubborn, pragmatic, system-oriented coach.

He favours the formation over the individual player, and has a way he wants to play, and then he picks a squad for that. He also has something of a habit of falling out with top-brass (he spectacularly fell out with Bayern Royalty in Höness and Rumenigge over his attempts to off-load Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich, who he did not think were good enough to play how he wanted, which hastened his departure from FC Bayern).

However (disclaimer) I am a bit of a Tuchel-fan, he got his coaching break at the VfB under the tutelage of Ralf Ragnick, and was central to the emergence of Mario Gomez (one of my favourite VfB former players).

We might be calling for Southgate to come back in a months time.
It would not surprise me one bit. But he reached the end of the road in terms of what he could deliver, similar to Tuchel re being pragmatic but again, lambasted because he never really got the team playing their very best, tactically excellent and well set up..but he was seriously hindered by his strategy in that losing wasn't an option..on the pitch they simply ran out of ideas because of that.

Fair ****s though, he got England further than most. Cracking player as well

I think people are gonna realise pretty f***ing soon what a great job Southgate did. Armchair experts, and plenty on here, had this notion that we should be playing teams off the park playing champagne football. We're not as good as we think. That semi against France we lost against a very dodgy referee.
Both sides of the argument can be true. Southgate did well to get England to the latter stages of tournaments but big games he was often second best.

At the end of the day a guy cannot have 5+ tournaments without winning and expect to keep his job, regardless of how well England do in this WC it was the right decision to give someone else a go.

I see both sides of the argument too. I think Southgate himself thought it was time for someone else. To consistently make the semi's and finals suggested we weren't far off under him though. And I swear the ref was completely bent in that QF against France, shocking refereeing cost us that game not Southgate. Some of the noise and criticism at the time was basic in my opinion

We're re-hashing the same old arguments about Southgate here, so I'll mention the easy draws we've had in the last couple of tournaments and the desperately turgid manner in which we crawled through the last one. I'm glad he left but I would have appointed an English manager, even if that person isn't as good as Tuchel.

Yeah agree - he could get us a to a certain level of top end tournament football with the talent we had available but it was his tactics and innate caution that meant at the crunch moments he misjudged what was needed. Let's face it in the Euro final "everyone" in the country knew we'd scored too early when we saw that rather than keep the pressure on he wanted to sit back and defend a lead against a side that had scored 12 goals to get to the final. Though admittedly a few games aside we'd found scoring pretty hard that tournament.

To be honest our managers are often over criticised. We’re usually about the 8th-10th most talented team in the world, so if we get to the quarters of a World Cup that’s about par. It’s a shame we have to over-dramatise it every time we get knocked out.
different this time- we fully expect to be home early. The only way it be dramatic would be if England do well.. max qtr final and that's fine because we have a shit manager with shit for brains

We had a couple of tournaments (Euro 2020 | World Cup 2022) where we had probably the best squad in the tournament.

Can't forgive Southgate for his ineptitude in that Italy final. And he was always caught out tactically against a better manager, with a similar level of player to England.

Tuchel is a better tactician, no doubt. But our squad falls a bit short now as France | Spain maybe even Portugal have caught up and we've regressed, not helped by some wild decisions leaving out certain players.

Euro 96 was a summer of football joy for the whole nation, football fever was done in the right way back then and we had a wonderful team and squad... probably the best tournament I can remember as wasn't alive in 66.... Football and sport in general now is all about the money and this world cup has epitomised all that is wrong with the game... it's a shame that the sport for the common man is no longer....

Pragmatism is ok and will get you so far but sometimes you've just got to let the dog off the leash and go for it, that dynamism is abundant in MGW, more so than the majority of the squad but sadly for him, Tommy doesn't appreciate that.

Agree the MGW and Maguire decisions were bizarre; although I think we’re only a quarter final team even with those 2 going. The defence is miles off it, there isn’t enough width and we’re over reliant on Kane.
