Miles Addison

I would like to say right at the start that this is not an insider information thing, but a sheep bothering friend of mine claims that he's heard word of Miles Addison falling out with Nigel and that we are ready to move in.

As I said pure idle speculation but would be good in my opinion if there is any truth in it as I rate him very highly.

Counter argument would be that Billy didn't pick him when he was at Derby although I would imagine that he would have been very young at this point.

A solid and versatile player, one of the few in Derby's squad that would be of interest to me if I were in charge of signing players for Forest.

A good young prospect who has done well for Derby under difficult circumstances. However I don't think he's good enough to get in our team at the moment so cannot see it happening.

Plus I don't see them selling someone they rate highly to their deadly rivals.

He's one of the few players my Derby supporting mate likes. Built like a shithouse door, but unless he goes somewhere else first, I can't imagine Derby selling him to us.

Billy didn't pick Earnshaw at Derby either . . . .

I heard this Saturday night too from a friend with decent links in football

No thanks, would be a sideways step in terms of the squad and we need to be looking at adding more quality, not more quantity.

I would have him in a heartbeat. Excellent player and let's face it, Paul McKenna won't be around for ever.

He's nowt like McKenna though, he's too clumsy to play in midfield.

He'd make a decent centre half, a taller version of Wes.

Disagree entirely ( ), he's very tidy on the ball.

My Derby loving mates has told me plenty of times that he's affraid we'll come in and sign him. The rivalry is irrelevant with the financial state they are in - if we put in a good enough offer, they will have to at least consider it.

As for him not being good enough I disagree. At the minute he wont get into our squad, but with a season or two of training he'll become more than just a squad players.

I'd liken him more to Perch than McKenna but not sure that'd be entirely accurate either.

He's very strong and good in the air. Would provide competition and cover for Wes and Kelvin. I know they like him there and for that reason alone I would like to sign him.

Being a Derby player I imagine he is probably injury prone.

The only player I'd take from Derby's squad.

Think he'd be an excellent addition, but I don't think he'd get into the side ahead of Kelv and Wes. He's more a centre-back now as well, so I don't think he'd fit into the midfield

He's not good enough to play in midfield. He's a decent enough centre-half but I'm not too fussed either way to be honest, I think there are better players out there we should be setting our sights on.

Is he better than Wilson and Wes? at this moment, no, however he would make great backup for either of them and would at least fight for a place in the starting 11

Seems a bit of a utility player, what is his best position?

Well seeing that hes a Derby player at the moment i would say his best position is bending over and touching his toes! rofl

His best position is midfield regulator.

And that's a fact.

You must be getting him mixed up with someone else. If Addison's a 'midfield regulator' then we should sign Dan Shittu as a fleet footed winger. Everytime I've seen him his use of the ball has been shocking.

He's a big strong 'stopper' of a centre back.

Apparently to someone I know he was terrible when younger! Scared of the ball and everything Although somewhat irrelevant now as he has become more than a good player it would seem ;D

We don't want back up for Wes and Kelv - it is about hopefully taking the next step i.e. buying players that are better than wes and kelv so they become back up and therefore the quality goes up. We have plenty of back up anyway. We need to be looking at better players.

I think Billy wants to bring in players good enough for the prem. Is Addison good enough for the Prem? If you look at who he has brought in and compare.

Camp - prem quality
Gunter - prem quality
Shorey - prem quality
Anderson - prem quality
Majewski - prem quality

Billy isnt building a team to be good in the CCC he is building one that can hold its own in the Prem, this would explain why he doesnt want promotion this year because he knows that there is a huge amount of work and investment before we would be anywhere near ready.
