Might have learned something ....

I really was getting myself in a panic (or picnic) a few weeks back, wondering where we'd get a win. Now look at us. I think I have to learn that football is truly a funny old game, just like all the crusty old pundits say. Next time we have a wobble, I'm going to do my best to remember this bounce back.

Against Derby I thought we were f**ked and destined for the drop, now Forest have picked themselves up, and they're back on the horse, just like that. Mad :)

...and yet we're still only 3 points off the relegation places. It's all swings and roundabouts, there's nothing like following a football team (outside the top 4).

...and, perversley, only 2 points away from 16th place.

It's going to be a real battle royalé to stay out of the relegation spots this year.

 Me too, I was so sick after the Derby game and it took a good week just to feel normal again. I didn't see where we could go from there but our manager and players have stood up to the plate and showed some balls.... They deserve credit for that....

I am also going to be more positive regarding Forest, I have been to negative regarding the reds but over the last two weeks feel that we really could be turning a corner.... 10 years of dross had taken there toll but I can really see some light at the end of our long dark tunnel. We have a manager to keep our Chairman and CEO on there toes is tactically ustute and cocky with it... Stay up this year and we could really push on if king Billy is given the funds.....

The Head of IT at my school set up a social networking site just for the staff. After three beers I went on to the site and asked where the Porn was. With hindsight, this may have been a mistake.

When we were losing at home to Norwich with an extra man, my brother said he would gaurntee we would go down and there was no chance that we would stay up. As a football fan, we get so embroiled with the 'now' that we dont see the bigger picture. Anything could happen. Imagine we did get Lita on loan and another couple of players and all players back fit, we would on paper have a top team. We could go on and win 6 games in a row and finish in the top half. Or (god forbid) we get more injuries and lose 6 on the trot.

After Derby, i was convinced that we were doomed, we literally had nothing. Then we go away to Reading and win and beat Preston. During the same time, the sheep lost away to Donny and drew at home to Swansea. We have clawed 5 points back in a week on them. There will be loads of ups and downs between now and the end of the season.

The is no explanation really, it is just the amazing game of association football!

worringly enough we'd be adrift in the relegation zone if we have lost those games, and I honestly couldn't see us winning them, could anyone?

Funny old game!

It is amazing how much of a difference 90 minutes can make.

... and the surprises keep on coming. From feeling rock bottom, to beating top teams, to signing Villa players and top Championship strikers on loan ...

And that video in Norwegian really set me off as well, makes you hungry to see us back in the top flight, as though we owe it to Clough's legacy or something.

Let's hope we finish strong, the rest of the season isn't just about staying up after all, the higher we can manage to finish, the more clout we have brining in players in the summer?

At the risk of arguing with myself, is this just being fickle again? I've jumped from thoughts of League 1 to a mid-table Championship finish, and building on it! Is it still fickle when you're wildly optimistic?

Lol, can't win.

What we have lacked for years is METHOD. We have had good players in the past who simply didn't seem to have a game plan. We never seemed to have the tactical awareness to beat teams who made it awkward for us. Even now, we still keep the ball for a pleasing time, then launch the ball in the air, turning 100% possession into a 50/50 at best. Because we are not that tall, this turns into a ball given back to the opposition. Our best spell against the sheep (in the cup) was when we kept the ball on the ground - for a spell, we played them off the park. Davies has to get us to only punt the ball up if absolutely necessary (or sign a 6ft 5in animal to get on the end of it). Confidence and energy are needed (confidence is obvious - energy is needed to keep running into space and give the man on the ball options). Sounds easy, but despite the good win on Tuesday, there were times when we HAD no options and had to hoof the ball up.
