I think we are still lacking goals from midfield. Cohen needs to score more to bcome the complete midfielder, Lewis can take a cracking free kick but I can't see who is going to get that many. Please convince me otherwise.

Fair view. It's fustrating knowing how Cohen and Lewis have good shots on them but don't seem to get into the right positions !

You could probably o**** the midfield goals on 2 hands. Then again you could argue that they spent so much time backing up the defense they didn't really get the chance to get forward enough, but they never did under Calderwood. He relied so heavily on the strikers it was unfair. Lets hope we see a better return under kind Billy

Maybe the reason our midfielders don't score that many is that our defence has been so poor that they are needed to help out there. In the past, the likes of Bohinan, Gemmil etc were encouraged to be part of our attacking plans and consequently managed to regularly score double figures in a season. Now our midfield helps our defence to hang on by the skin of their teeth. We MUST get some dominating players in our defence, who when they win the ball, the ball stays won. Only then will you see the midfield regularly getting into attacking situations.

This is a good point. I remember saying many times last season that we do not get enough goals from midfield and that has to change.

I have gone for Ando but that is dependent upon him staying free of injury.

I agree with the Ando one, he suffered bad injuries last season at the wrong times, just as he was beginning to show his true class. During the away ame at Derby where he buggered his arm u;p he was one of our better players. I can see him scoring several goals next season if he doesnt get injured when he runs too fast. that goes for Tyson too, he seems to get injured everytime he goes over a certain speed.

Kind of sums it up really. Last season, I outscored the rest of my sunday team and I played CM, LM and even LB (scored 3 in 3 from there!). It's all about timing and knowing where to run. Cohen doesn't really seem to do this, though he definately has the engine to. I don't have Lewis down as this kind of player, but it'd be good if he could hover around the edge of the box for loose balls.

In fact, Thornhill seems to be the one of our midfielders who is best at getting in the box for goals. Even Perch has cropped up with the odd important goal from surges into the box.

Overall we just need to convert more chances from midfield. How often did we see people scoring long rangers against us and us thinking 'why the hell don't our players even shoot from there'!

He might have come back fitter but if he's competing with Chris Cohen for that elusive central midfield spot , he'll lose.

Unrortunately, I don't think any of our midfield are capable of getting us more than half a dozen goals at the very most> Although if we get the 6th striker BD wants then perhaps we won't even need goals from antwhere else on the park.

If Thornhill could get more starts he has the creativity any goals that we need. His vision for a pass is great but the question is whether he is strong enough. I'd like to see him play behind the strikers but leaves us a bit light in midfield.

I'd imagine he may go out on loan.
