Michael Tongue from Stoke to arrive very soon on loan with a view to a permanent move.

I remember him having a good left foot and being effective as opposed to being exciting- more left mid than left winger
Thoughts?

How old is he now? Back in the season we lost in the playoffs to the Blades he was part of a very decent side.

To answer my own question, he was on loan at Preston but it has expired.

A realistic target fo sho.

He is only 26 so certainly has the potential to get back to his best form he showed at Sheffield United.

Not sure how much we need him as I think our central midfield is already pretty well stocked.

Were we not linked with him back when Harty was in charge ?

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he go to Fulham (?) then just fall into obscurity ? Would be interesting to see comments from his current club whoever they are.

Isnt his main position left mid?

Would be a very useful player to have IMO. Can play both on the left and through the middle. Would prefer Charlie Adam, but wouldn't be at all dissapointed with Tonge.

He's certainly be a decent player to have in the squad. Remember him being excellent for the blades back in 02/03.

I remember him being not as good as Michael Brown (but getting recognised as good due to playing in the same side) and diving. A lot.

Mediocre. Not good enough to get in our midfield now and certainly not good enough for the league above.

Exactly what people said of Kelvin Wilson in league 1.

Now the same people say he can play premier league.

DO NOT JUDGE any players until you see them play in your side with your manager and in your set up.

I never said that though. I've always felt Kelvin had the potential to go further than the majority of players we've had recently.

Besides, if we all waited around and refrained from posting our opinions until such a time then a messageboard would be a pretty dull thing to read.

Obviously, if he was to come and prove me wrong then great but I don't rate him. Utterly anonymous the other week for Preston and he's done virtually nothing of note for years.

Was anonymous for Preston when we played them a few weeks ago. Not going to be good enough to be in our first team.
