Michael Tonge

We are fighting to sign him according to Mirror Football.

Michael Tonge can escape his Stoke nightmare with a £1.5million move to Cardiff, Nottingham Forest or Scottish Premier League champions Rangers.

The trio are in a fight to sign the Manchester-born midfielder,27, who has failed to make an impact since joining the Potters from Sheffield United for £2million two years ago.

Tonge has made only 10 appearances for Tony Pulis's side, and has now been told he does not figure in the Britannia Stadium boss's plans for the new season.

Cardiff are favourites to land the former England under-21 international with Bluebirds chief Dave Jones needing a replacement for Joe Ledley, who quit the Welsh outfit for a switch to Celtic earlier this month.

Aren't Cardiff under Transfer Embargo ?

How can Cardiff be favourites when they havent got a pot to piss in?

They are having to sell their prized assetst to avoid HMRC winding them up. What toss.

Money from Whittingham will only pay the tax bill. What about ongoing cashflow? If they cant pay their tax bill pre season with the benefit of season ticket revenue, I hardly think they are able to be paying 1.5m for anybody.

hasn`t chopra been moaning about lack of signings and ambition this week, f***ing hell chopra do you not read the papers. Unless its a plea for a transfer, although on SSN he said we would probably be a cardiff player next season, thats him gone then.

You will find the tax bill was paid in June - Read below.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/cardiff_city/8848473.stm

The club has estimated debts of £30m and faced their fifth winding-up order to settle the tax bill on 16 June, before it was eventually withdrawn after the debt was paid.

Around half of that debt is owed to Langston Corporation whose representative is Sam Hammam, the former Cardiff City owner.

This week, Motherwell demanded immediate payment of a "substantial debt" owed by Cardiff City for the transfer of defender Paul Quinn.

this rumour been around a few weeks along with the one that stoke were offering beattie tonge and dickinson for cohen after they lost out on ledley. The thing that worries me is that all our targets lately are midfielders where we have an abundance and not defensive or attacking which we need.

I see some fans saying he's this and that but good player at this level. Ok he may not of had the greatest of games with stoke but look at him when playing at this level with sheff utd.

also you lot who say he's shit etc, moaned about no signings but when we are linked with someone he's this/that.

would you rather us sign him or stay with the team at moment? we need some new signings/soon.

They're favourites because neither Forest nor Rangers actually want him.
