Message for ND - TO AGAIN ALLOW BOLT THE FOOKIN HORSE DONT

Credit where it is due.

Well done ND in sacking Calderwood following that debacle against Doncaster on Boxing Day.

Perhaps a touch longer than he should have been given though, but ultimately a decision that saved our bacon.

Calderwood was only taking us one place.

Credit again for bringing in a proven manager who has a fire burning in his belly and a passion for the game only matched by the fans.

Well done in allowing Billy to wheel and deal, bringing in players who made the difference between Championship and third flight football next term.

Now the moan.

Why, oh why did we not bring in this stamp of player at the start of the season? Imagine the difference they would have made over a season with Billy at the helm?

The fans have backed Forest to the hilt again, with 20+ gates the norm & for very average football at best.

We now have the building blocks in place to put us back in the frame for the big time. Yes, I know we will never win the league again, but we are a club with the potential to be minimum Championship top 10 every season!

Please learn from the terrible mistakes made over the past 4/5 years and lets start next season with a squad of players who match the size of the club and lets give it the best possible shot at completing at a level our club deserves.

My biggest moan was back in January. But yeah let's leave it for tonight. I can see Davies taking us back to the premiership eventually given the right backing :)

Actually, that's a perfectly reasonable post.

If you catch a big mirror carp though it needs to be brought in via a keep net.

The change in our season was Dexter Blackstock.

And we are a club with the potential to win the Premiership and two European Cups after that.

Great post.

We can bask in the joy of tonight, great, let's do it and enjoy it.

But let's not to screw up in any shape or form ever again in this league.

It is just completely and utterly avoidable.

Although I'm happy to see a reasonable post like this, a couple of things

1 - Why did we not have this quality of player at the start of the season? Because the manager didn't sign them. I simply can't hold Doughty accountable for the standard of player, it's the manager's job and he lives and dies by results. The chairman judged him on this, and rightly sacked him. That's the only way to run a football club, ask Newcastle fans about Mike Ashley or Dennis Wise. Colin Calderwood was the man who gave us the first step towards today so it was right he had a crack at this season without interference, but he failed and was rightly replaced.

2 - You point out Forest fans have backed the club to the hilt. Well at least you acknowledge that being behind the club is a good thing, now will you please get on board and stop spreading your trouble making at this time of optimism for everyone. And if that disgusting FOND website is still going please remove it. (if that's not your doing, I apologise)

What you need to appreciate young Weasal is that fan pressure, in particular, pressure exerted via the FOND Foundation is what ultimately saved our season.

If we all sat back and applauded failure then we would just be another Notts County.

I would highly recommend and intensive Forest educational period for you, in which you will need to understand the history of the club and the passion that still drives so many of us. Only then, when you have this special gift can you fully understand the difference between a fan and a supporter?

Good luck on your journey young man. :bigboss:

I'd like to thank Calderwood for building a foundation that, unfortunately, wasn't quite good enough with him at the helm.

We have bought in a manager who will look to complete that foundation, and make us a competitive team in all areas.

Billy Davies wasn't my favourite, but I'm very happy to admit that I was incredibly wrong.

ND, listen to BD, today is the day we start off our slow journey back to the top.

Dam, I knew it was too good to be true...back to your witty best I see. If your so called fan pressure had been listened to Calderwood may have gone before he had chance to get us up in the first place and we'd still be in League One listening to your tripe. Luckily Doughty didnt 'f*** off', and this isn't the case. :D You can keep up your project if you like, but you know what? The better we get, the less and less people will be listening to you before you fade into oblivion. Good luck! :)

Got to say i was exactly the same and am very very happy to admit i am wrong. I think he has proved a hell of a lot of us wrong. Well Done BD.

I'm happy to own up to that as well. After Megson nearly ended us as a club I feared the same. I was soo wrong, and I'm very pleased that I wasn't entrusted with the task of picking a manager because it's a bugger of a job! Well done Billy + Ned.

Time to get some realism, 3 teams are relegated every year because they are not good enough. One day, our fans will realise that what we have achieved in the past means nothing, and we have no god given right to be anywhere but where we are. Next season we will probably have to share this realism with the Sheep, Dirty Leeds and the Toon army, whilst Peterborough march towards the premier league.

The likes of Kilburn and myself have been supporting this club for a long time. We don't get excited and celebrate just because we have avoided relegation by the skin of our teeth. When we are good, I will give them praise, and when things aren't right, I will criticise, as I'm sure Kilburn will, and people will still listen.

This club has got a long way to go before it can start being succesful again, and it can't just rely on Doughty sticking his hand in his pocket.

If you remember, Kilburn posted an almost glowing tribute to Doughty around February time, but no one is above criticism (Even if I don't always agree with it) and Calderwood did his best to f**k up promotion, so don't give him too much credit for that.

Roll on next season!

Times are changing. Ive endured 15 years of watching us go from an absolutley cracking exciting side, to... well a side that had Eugene Dadi and Daryl Powell in the starting lineup.

Staying up this season was so so important, arguably more important than getting up here in the first place. This is honestly the most positive ive felt as a Forest fan since Van Hoijdoink went on strike.

We are back baby, and with some wise investments, I see no reason why we shouldn't be looking at 2-3 seasons to get back to the big time.

Yes weve done it by the skin of our teeth again, but how many of you couldn't say that back in August you'd have taken 21st place. I know it's what I was after.

As long as we continue to build, moving up the table each season and playing attractive football, with the ultimate goal of promotion, and staying in the premiership (and believe me, if and when we get there, il say it now...first season, 17th place will be smashing) then im more than happy to put my cash in the turnstiles :)

I don't see why we shouldn't put 100% trust into Billy. He has he knows more about football than the board of directors, and by doing this i think we will be able to achieve top flight status if he is given the right backing.

I now totally trust BD with every aspect of our club. I'm not nervous every 2 minustes when it feels like we're going to concede, I love the new passion commitment and guile the team have found. How we can now adapt to play teams at their own game. I love how we managed to egt Sheff Utd moaning about us being dirty on their own doorstep, a particularly proud moment :D

But, never rest as they say. Now one job is complete the next is about to begin. I am fully confident that BD will identify and bring in the players we need. He is particularly talented at spotting weaknesses and bringing exactly the right sort of person.

Chambers, has been critisized heavily as a RB, but moved to the central position and he has flourished, even picking up many's MOM.

Up front we have an incredibly talented striker in Earnie. He was struggling with balls over the top, even though he still scored an admirable amount of goals. But BD brings in a quality target man who would sit quite happily next to Joe, Earnie or Nathan and make them formidable.

The unsung hero, Chris (3 lungs) Cohen was one of CC's masterstrokes. We would have been relegated weeks ago if it weren't for his consistently high work rate. A lower league Gerrard, just needs to work on his long range shooting !

I'm very excited at the prospect of CCC next season. We have the right man, the right core of a tea, (if we can keep the) and the same amazing fanbase.

Good post. Re Chambers, he was one of those annoying 'play a centre half at full back' players we've had for years now ever since Jim Brennan left and Wes Morgan was tried at left back. I don't think you can underestimate the importance of playing proper players in these positions. I seem to remember Kinnear's bringing in of Rogers and Impey as a masterstroke that kept us up last time, and getting Gunter this time has been just as important. Chambers himself would no doubt be the first to say he's a centre half, and he showed it the other day. What he lacks in ability he makes up for in effort and strength, and although he wouldn't start for me it's important to have decent reserves who are happy to fight for their place and fill in when needed.

So lets hope this finally signals the end of an era of playing players where they simply can't play, and also an era of actual decent reserve players like Chambers, Lynch and Garner who are good enough to play, but not too good to moan about being on the bench rather than the extremely weak Sinclair and Newbold.
