Memories of Forest

First Team Squad
Bit of a random thread but will be interesting to go over people's memories of watching Forest.

I'll start off with a few:

What's the best Forest game you have been to?

What's the worst Forest game you have been to?

I'm only in my teens but i'd say the best game without a doubt was the promotion day against Yeovil, fantastic!
Worst, was probably the play off loss at home to Yeovil!

The best game for me would have to be the leauge cup final replay at Old Trafford against Liverpool.
That was the first trophy i ever saw Forest win and the only time i have been moved to tears at a football match. There was to be many more trophy winning experiences of course but this one being the first will always be special.

The worst experience, probably Anderlecht away. Me and a few mates made the trip to Brussels. We had a 2-0 lead from the first leg and we lost in Belgium 3-0 as many of you on this board will know. Still don't know to this day why we had a late goal disallowed that would have sent us through.

I'll start off with a few:

What's the best Forest game you have been to?

In terms of pure excitment v,s Everton in the 6th round FA cup 8th April 1967

In terms of pure Euphoria v's Malmo in Munich May 30th 1979

These games have never been bettered.

What's the worst Forest game you have been to?

Losing 6-1 to Leeds in 1972.........still the worst team performance I have ever seen

The Doncaster game on boxing day was a major low. At least there were high points in the Yeovil game, a lot of excitement and adrenalin despite the heartbreak at the end.

Donny was bad because we had started to turn a corner and they were below us and they totally outplayed us.

Losing in the play offs the Sheff Utd was bad. The first leg was awesome though.

Losing 2-1 to Luton was a bad away day. A long travel, horrible ground and no reward at all, it felt like we'd be in league 1 forever. Relegation from the Premiership and Championship were obviously low points.

There are a lot of high points though. Watching players like Collymore, Roy, Pearce, Stone, Bohinen were great. The unbeaten run and the european run.

In recent years, beating Charlton in the FA cup and the Yeovil promotion game. Listening to the game on my phone for the Doncaster score whilst in the ground watching the action was amazing.

The promotion to the premiership with PVH and Kevin Campbell was great.

In recent years there have been more lows than highs but it feels like that is all going to change. We have put ourselves in a strong position with our sacrifices and we can be proud we did it honestly unlike the bin robers.

Worst game: Nil Nil draw with Norwich on around about the 28th December 2001. Freezing cold and an awful match.

Best match - probably Yeovil last year or the 5-0 thumping of Burnley back in 2000.

Worst match: Yeovil Game, or Donny on boxing day.

Best match: Promotion day, or the game vs Huddersfield I think, Last year at home, Where Kelvin was wrongly sent off and had a peno to them, then last minute McGugan scored the winner. Think a 2-1 win. We played great that match, then to see us win in the last minutes was awesome

Worse game? Doncaster last season, first away game, didn't even show up, put me off going to an away game until recently. Yeovil is one, in the play-offs, don't know how it coulda gone worse. My first ever game against Bolton was one, I remember being in upper Cloughie, I was about 8.

Best Game? Swindon 7-1, I don't think I'll see that amount of goals scored in one match again. Yeovil, promotion, need I say more? Against Burnley in our play-off season under Hart, Dawson scored a monumental goal, sitting in lower Trent. Awesome.

What's the best Forest game you have been to?
Forest Vs Man utd 2-1 at Old Trafford in December 1994
What's the worst Forest game you have been to?

Toss up between Donny a few weeks ago and Plymouth at home in 2005

my best wud have to be fa cup semi 1991 v west ham. we were awsome that day!!!

Helped massively by the referee! :)

We've had threads on this before but I can't find them, so it's worth repeating..

I struggle with best game attended..

One of or all of the following:

Peterborough 2-3 Forest (promotion confirmed)
United 1-2 Forest
Sheffield Wednesday 1-7 Forest
Spurs 1-4 Forest
Promotion day last season

Even though I missed the glory years through being too young, it makes one realise how lucky they are to have witnessed games like the above, and many more memorable ones besides.

Worst game

Nottingham Forest 0-3 Plymouth Argyle. What a shit day.

Another of my better memories as a Forest fan was 21sr December 1996 gainest Arsenal.Pearce 1st game as player manager and we were in the relegation zone.1st half Ian Wright scored after Crossley dropped a cross which landed at Wright feet. The with a bit of play acting from Nikola Jerkan he got Ian Wright sent off just after the hour mark. Then Alfie Haaland scored 2 goals,One in the last minute to give us a 2-1 over Arsenal.

Both European Cup wins were a bit special, as was the semi-final when we beat Cologne away. The 1967 Ian Storey Moore hat-trick against Everton in the semi-final of the FA Cup was memorable. Peterborough 2 Nottingham Forest 3 under Frank Clarke was also very special.

Worst game would have to be defeats by Walsall under Platt.

Best game ive been to was Wednesday away in 1995 when we spanked them 7 - 1. Every time we went forward it looked like we were going to score and all the goals were class, especially Bohinen audacious outside of the foot lob! Think we had around 6000 fans there. We also beat Spurs 4 - 1 away, (Bohinen scored another world class lob) that day. Both games the Wednesday fans and spurs fans clapped Forest goals & performance, appreciating how good we were back then

Also liked beating the sheep at home 3 - 0 because we were so much better than them.

Worst game probably the coffee cup game. We lost 3 - 0 and 4 - 2 in the last few years so both of them were the worst games ive been to.

Best:

Promotion Day Against Yeovil
Citeh perhaps
7-1 against Swindon

Worst:

Yeovil in the playoffs,it eat me up for weeks
0-2 against Barnsley on a friday night in January

What's the best Forest game you have been to?

v Southampton won 3-2 (ZDS Cup Final 92)
v Leicester won 4-0 (93/94)

v Plymouth lost 3-0 (04/05)
v Coventry lost 4-1 (04/05) - i think it was that season anyway!
v Yeovil lost 5-2 (06/07)

What's the best Forest game you have been to?
Promotion day '08

What's the worst Forest game you have been to?
Donny Boxing Day '08 - don't think it'll be beaten for many years to come either.

The best:

For the pure elation it would be last year's promotion game against Yeovil. My personal favourite other than that is when we beat Middlesbro 4-0 in a top of the table clash. It was my first home game (as I live in London, my old man had taken me to quite a few away matches before then) and I was absolutely amazed we won by so much. Van Hooijdonk was just magic that day, like he was all season.

Worst:

Getting beat 8-1 by Man Utd wasn't much fun. Also, losing 4-0 at home to Scunthorpe was a bit of a wake up call about how unprepared we were against teams who are quick on the break and clinical. I would say the overall winner is the second leg of the play-offs against Yeovil which was a massive low. I was, prematurely, really looking forward to Wembley and had already made plans to have mates stay at my house as I only live a few stops away from the stadium - whoops.

I will just qualify the second part by saying that when Platt was manager, I was living with a girl from Walsall. Going there to meet her family was like going back through time. They had horrible accents and rather than slicing bread, they put it on it's end and carved it. After we split up, she claimed I had done something she did not like to her on a regular basis. I thought the whole point of doing it was that she did not like it. My overwhelming memory of her is that she would get up in the morning and make two plops into the toilet. Whatever we ate the night before, it was always two.

Walsall is a godawful place. I remember being taken to a special farm near Cannock Chase which had free range pigs. I bought a joint of free range pork and completely ruined it when I cooked it for about six hours.

Walsall became our bogey team after I split from this girl. I don't think we have beaten them since. I always blamed myself. I left the Walsall woman to be with my wife.

Beating Chelsea 7-0 a few weeks before the cup final in '91 was a good day, if only to get to tell Dennis Wise after the game that he "didn't do as well as last year" when Wimbledon had beaten us 1-0 in a shocker of a game. Also standing right behind the goal as Des scored against Luton was quality :)

What's the best Forest game you have been to?
3-2 v Yeovil
3-0 v Man City
2-1 v West Ham

What's the worst Forest game you have been to?
Mk Dons away I think we lost 1-0, was a freezing wednesday night sat in a shit stand with no cover and it was raining and just to add to it a shocking performance.
Obviously 2-5 at home to Yeovil
2-4 at home to Doncaster

I can vouch for that one, the most unenjoyable 90 minutes of 'football' I have ever witnessed, although I do recall Gareth Taylor calling Marlon King a very rude name and Marlon looking like he was gonna cry ;D

ugh - does anyone have good memories of matches under Platt - seems even the games we won were shocking

worst game

When we beat leicester 4-0 in Brian Clough's relegation season - Lee Glover was magnificent, and we all thought that we stood a chance of turning things around..

the hope it gave was more cruel that any defeat.

Yeah, i forgot about that. I went there and sat in that hockey stadium and watched us get passed of the pitch by the MK Dons, how embarressing. And to top it all off, the ex sheep shagger Izale McLeod scored. That was woeful. Think we sold out our allocation on a cold Wednesday night as well.
